Glad your experience has been good with them. I simply shared my stand point on them after running them for several years as well.

Gotcha. I can’t imagine the weight over the bed is very different from 2nd to 3rd gen, but who knows. In my opinion, they weren’t much of an upgrade on the 2nd gen trucks. Just my .02. I’m curious to know the difference for the 3rd gen ones. Do you know what the new valving was?

    For sure.

I just wanted to point out that it’s a 3rd Gen specific 5100 he’s after if going that route. Some guys don’t believe there is a difference. Link was provided as proof.

The dollar and those import fees they keep jamming on top of the shipping seems to be the killer for us I find.

I believe they adjusted for the weight of the truck and the ride characteristics. The front end sticks out farther on the 3rd Gen, and I believe the rear is lighter due to the fake plastic simulated bumper. When the 3G came out, Billstein did not react right away. I think the re-valved 3G specific 5100s shocks hit the streets in 2017, so lots of guys fit the old version without issue.

I imagine it’s just a case of them tuning the compression and rebound valves to match those things.

I believe these numbers are correct for the 3rd gen 5100's, please correct me if I'm wrong on this !

    Yep!
I have a 2017 TRD OR, I have the ReadyLift Kit, and a ARE Overland cap, and have Bilstiens all around.
It definetly rides smoother than stock, which is why I got them.
Also had these on a no lift 2016 TRD OR, before hurricane Harvey totaled it. Again, smoother ride.
You can bundle these for front and rear. Talk to Marie at Headstrong, super fast shipping.

It would appear the rear shocks are the same according to “Billstein Lifts” website. I seem to recall that is the case.

Do you have the Readylift plus the 5100s? I could try that. Or maybe even just the rear to start and the fronts later.

The 3/2 with factory shocks, sucks ass

Says the 5th notch (2” lift) is not recommended on 4x4 vehicles?

You might want to try some Bilstein 5160s on the back, good for up to 1.5 inches of lift from your leaf springs. Don't cost much more than 5100s

    Correct.
I had my truck leveled.....not on 5th notch.
    I have 17” wheels and 285/70r17 Nitto’s.
    Lift from stock was 2.5”

Mine has the factory TRD Off Road Bilsteins I feel as though the rear shocks are over extended and the front springs are way too compressed. The front feels ok though just doesn’t move much.

Forgive the novice question, but Are the Bilstein 5100s that much better than the stock TRD OR (2018)?

Seems they are a TW favorite.

I have a 2017 TRD OR, for me smoother ride over stock, worth it since I also used them to level the truck.
