So, i picked up a Toyota AC Evaporator Cleaning Kit from Toyota $43 :annoyed:yesterday and followed a YouTube video to clean it out today. So far, i dont smell the moldy scent, but i smell the foam cleaner still through the system. I will see after a few days to see if the smell disappears. Keeping my fingers crossed. :fingerscrossed: The liquid that came out wasnt really bad like the video above that i have seen, but it wasnt clear either...

I've been having that smell on my 18 recently.
When I do smell it , I turn up the heat on highest setting and high fan for a few minutes.
I try to make it a habit to turn ac off 5 min to home.
If I do forget, I just turn on heat and dry it out.
    It's been working.

I don't seem to have this issue. Is it because I almost never run my AC on recirc?

I'm praying my 2019 SR don't develop this issue like the black 2016 SR5 I traded last year did. That was the #1 reason I traded it. Smelled of fresh cow manure stank. I'm thinking it may of had the drain tube plugged up because I tried running the clear tube from the Klima Cleaner up thru it and could not get it past the firewall.

Buddy had a 2017 TRD Sport and he always left his on recirculate and never had any problems. I hope they addressed the issue on the '19's like you mentioned. Praying they did because I cannot afford to trade this truck off.

I'm the same way. I make short runs in town and forget to switch most of the time. If mine gets the cow manure like the '16 I traded I'll get the dealership to clean the evap core and never use the a/c again on my truck. Went without a/c for years in my other used trucks..mainly because they never worked.

Like I said in the other post...Buddy had a 2017 TRD Sport and he always ran his on recirculate. He never had the stank in his a/c.

Did you see my post? Mine is a ‘19 and if I don’t remember to take it off recirc I will get a weird smell next time I turn on the ac. It doesn’t last long just a few moments till it clears out but it is a brand new truck so I can foresee it becoming a problem if I don’t stay on top of it.

I drove the truck again this weekend and it still had a hint of staleness and cleaner, but not as bad as it was. I removed the cabin filter and shot 1/4 can of Lysol disinfectant onto the fan area right above the Evaporator. I let it run on recirculated air with the windows all down and with just the fan on, no AC. Hopefully the disinfectant will get on the entire evaporator and kill whatever smelly stuff is still on it. I will wait another week and see if it gets rid of the stank.
