I tore off the 7-pin connector on a rock. I went over to my local trailer place and they said they couldn't due it b/c toyota used proprietary components for the hook-up.

Just orderd the parts from the dealer..... 216.00 +tax

Anyone else have to do this?

I figure I can just install the components myself when the come in, just sucks how much it costs.

Thats a crock. Any decent mechanic could figure that wiring out. its only 7 wires for goodness sakes.

That's what I thought, but the guy over at Longhorn trailers didn't want to miss with the wires, said he'd install it after I got the part from toyota because he didn't have a part that would work....

** also I was mad so I already went to the dealership and ordered the replacement, they make you prepay for a "special order" part... I figured they'd have a bunch in-stock

You could use any 7-pin socket. Probably $10-$20 at a hardware store.

I would, but it was the only way to order the metal mounting plate (it cames with the assembly).. I'll have to look again, but i don't think it was fixable
