    Hi,

So I lifted my truck with 5100 and 887, medium dakar leaf pack and extended 5100 on the rear. Should I get the 3 degrees axle shim? I have a drivetrain vibes at around 20-25 mph. Doesn't disappear in 4wd.

I used some 3 degree shims in mine with just an AAL. Your stock leaf pack might have had a 1 degree shim in there from the factory. My 18 TRD OR had one, but swapped it out for a 3 degree one while I had it apart. So far no vibes.

Nope still good, some people here swapped it right away when they do lift their truck. For me if it's not broken don't change it, just my 2 cent's.

The formula is 1 degree of shim per inch of lift.

Ohh yeah you're right I just check it now the stock leaf pack that I removed has shim on it. It's probably 1 degree. Anyway I already ordered 3 degrees shims since it's the common size that they order for 2-3 inch lift. Even toytec mentioned it.

It doesn’t have to broken to get the vibes. I had Toyota replace the needle bearing after the first time I got vibes. Bearing lasted a week before vibes were back. It’s the most likely culprit.

I did the ECGS bushing and Toytec shims with my Dakars. If you feel it through the speed on acceleration, but it’s stronger during deceleration it is likely the needle bearing. If you feel it in 4wd just a tiny bit it could still be the needle bearing. Chasing the vibe sucks...take it from me...I took my entire driveline to get professionally balanced

Agree, I actually have the same vibes as you described. Yeah I will going to change my needle bearing if vibes doesn't go away after installing 3 degrees shims. Thanks for input

You might want to check with Dakar. I put Deaver U402 Expedition II leaf pack on mine and they told me they were designed for no shim. You will have to put spacers in your carrier bearing though.

Hi thanks for input, yeah I did placed a CB spacer. I seen a lot of guys here placed shim on their dakar leaf pack. It's probably okay.

Yeah I had a vibration problem from the minute I did my lift because I started off using shims right when I put the new springs on. I went with 3 degree shims following the 1 degree per inch rule. After trying three different size shims, I emailed support at Deaver. They said you usually don't need shims with their leaf packs because of the way they're designed. I took all shims out and adjusted my carrier until I have no vibration to speak off.
