I was looking at the front suspension on my truck today and noticed what appeared to be an upper bolt hole for the front shock assembly to bolt to. This would seem to raise the truck. Is that what those holes are for?

    Thanks

I don’t think so. The shocks don’t add any lift to the truck so moving it won’t do anything

    I noticed them too...

Here's a great picture I managed to find:

You're absolutely right in that it would theoretically raise the truck- what you'd be doing is changing the overall motion ratio of the suspension. It would probably jack your alignment too.

As to why it is there, not a clue. Too small and too close to the shock to be an alternate sway bar bushing pickup point, I think, and that's about my only guess.

It's an alignment/jig hole for automated robotic production of the lower control arm.

The shock won't fit in that hole. It will hit the LCA before the holes align to slide the bolt through. I'm pretty sure they did that on purpose
