You can take your truck all the way to blue lake. I doubt it open yet though. Probably won't be clear of snow till early June.

Iron mountain is cool too but same deal lot of snow

I think you'd be lucky to get 24k for it. It's old news Tacoma now with 3rd gens being out.

Modifications don't add value they take away from it. Unless you find the right buyer and this place will be the best place to do that. Otherwise if you're serious. Take it back to stock as much as possible and sell it. You'll get more money for the parts and truck seperately than you would together.

Seems like a crazy amount of brake pad left for 53k miles on the truck doesn't it?

The brakes aren't completely smooth either. At slow speeds and light braking I can feel a pulse a bit (I think most folks call this "warped rotors").

I figured I'd need pads and or rotors soon. But holy cow..

I'm still on my original brakes at 129k. Took Runner in to get them changed and they said I still had about 30% left

OEM I'm pretty sure is a balance. Quieter braking, lesser brake performance, but longer life.

I've considered finding better braking for my truck since it doesn't stop that great. But I was never really impressed by it's stopping ability brand new off the lot.

You must have cooked them to warp them. Oem rotors last forever.

<<<Brake front end guy here FWIW.

"Warped" rotors can be one of many things and the term is sort of a misconception. Yes rotors can get warped from heat this is referred to as "runout" where the rotor has a "wavy" parallel surface. Usually caused by uneven/over torquing wheel nuts or rust build up on the hub surface. Rotors can also wear unevenly where they are thicker or thinner from one spot on the rotor to the next, usually between the vents where there is less material thickness this is called "parallelism" this will usually give you a very fast shudder/pulsating feeling.
The most common is actually caused by pad buildup on the rotor. When the brakes are hot and you stop with your foot on the brake, the pads leave a small amount of pad material on the rotor surface when you release the brakes. After time this buildup can cause the sensation of pulsing brakes much like parallelism....

    The more you know....rpyqxrxKyMXHnavCpZzV.gif

ETA And yes the pads they are using these days last a very long time. I have seen vehicles with over 100k on them with more than 50% of pad life left. This is also very subjective to how the vehicle is driven ie. highway vs stop go traffic.

    I think it's the MT air. :D

As said, usage and driving habits probably, when I lived there I never ran a set of pads out. I've lived in a 'burb/metro area now for a long time and brake pads tend to wear out much quicker. On my 09 the original front pads lasted 85k, and they were worn out.

I am about to do a 5th Gen T4R Budget Big Brake Kit on my truck. The last of the parts should be here tomorrow hopefully. Going with Napa Eclipse reman calipers, factory backing plates and hard lines to the calipers, TRD brake pads and dba 4x4 Suvival slotted rotors. Because yes, the second gen trucks brakes suck.

If the uneven feel you have on the pedal both you you can take the rotors off and have them turned. If you can live with the pedal feel run them until the pads are toast. At that time can have them turned if they are thick enough (most likely) or replaced. It's all up to you.

What's up everyone! Looking to upgrade my stock goodyear tires to some nitto ridge grapplers. Located in Missoula and just wanted to double check to make sure if the only dealers for nitto's were discount tire in Kalispell and Bozeman before I make a trek for them?

So sad Missoula doesn't have one (yet :fingerscrossed:)! Seems like it's pretty similar distances to any Discount store from Missoula

Last weekend started the drive up to Cataract Lake toward the Hollow Top Mountain area. Part way up on Cataract Rd it was getting sketchy slippery cause of snow and ice still on the road did a hillside back up and turn around. Maybe another week or two and i can access the area further up into that area. Also reporting Patosi Springs Road was also Closed last weekend due to washouts.
