i work in downtown toronto theres no on site parking so you need to pay to park wherever you can find parking.
we do techincally get a 'travel allowance' as its called which is $17 a day which you can use towards parking or whatever you want but its taxable income. Doesn't matter how much you work if you are south of the 401, east of keele, west of the DVP you get that $17

But depending where you are working thats not even enough.
When I was at Toronto General Hospital doing a generator upgrade it was $20 a day for parking
Eaton Centre shut downs was $35/day because I was getting charged both the night maximum and day maximum (12hour shifts)

I wish I could get a pass. I'm never in one spot long enough to be able to make one. I'm paying full pop at every lot, $15 to $25 depending where in the city it is.

Hell you want to hear bullshit, Vaughan hospital doesn't have much of street parkng near it, the plazas near it will ticket cars that are parked there too long. and PCL charges to park on site for any construction worker and you dont get that allowance since you're north of the 401.

this site, 1 york and billy bishop airport are the only times I could get a pass.

one york was the same lot as 16 york.
Billy Bishop they gave all contractors a discounted $100/month pass.

its pretty nice having a pass I wont lie.

Damn man that blows. I got an allowance when I went to school but it was the same thing, taxable income so I didn’t even claim it.

I heard that. What a bunch of assholes. There's all that space there that isn't even theirs and they go and charge for parking.

That’s true, I’m sure the work in the city is more profitable than anywhere else unless you were doing electrical for like a mining op or hydro or something

I'm part of local 353 so theres a pretty big boundry I can work in but most of the work is in downtown. and the pay is pretty good. comfortable at least.

I did that. I added a hinge for it to fold down. Not very practical and a pain in the ass to get into the back for me. In the process of turning it into a swing out by the summer.

I'll try and find a better pic but I ended up cutting it at the 90 and welded plates on either side of the section that slides into the receiver. Added a bolt through the vertical tube for the tire carrier.

The plates on the sides ended up being too weak and bent slightly when folding it down a few times. I would make them thicker if I was to do it again.
It wasn't practical for me to have to always fold it down if I needed something from the back. With full jerry cans made it a pain to drop and lift each time.
I'm keeping it as is since I already put the work in and going to figure something to put a hinge on it and make a swing out.
I would imagine with tire only, might not be too bad.
