My first Tacoma and my first aftermarket stereo...any advice?

    Basic stuff: Truck bed cover, locking tailgate handle, bug and rain deflectors on hood and all 4 window, heavy duty seat covers and husky floor mats. Also swapping out the stereo unit and speakers and adding a sub with a 4 channel and mono channel amps.
    Hey guys! My name's Dan; I just got my 2013 double cab 2 months ago and it has been great, I love the thing! My only complaint about it right now, as I've addressed everything else, is the factory stereo. I've got the non-JBL version with the 2nd type of touchscreen, I believe. When I hook my phone up to it via bluetooth the volume has to be turned away up and if I'm playing a video it's gotta be maxed and it's still too low. I've always wanted to do a aftermarket install on my previous vehicles but never had the money and it seemed a daunting challenge. A friend who has done installs before is gonna help me. I've got:
    • 2 Rockford Fosgate R2 Prime 10" dual 4 ohm shallow subwoofers 200 rms/400 peak( one is on it's way still, accidentally bought one 2ohm at first) gonna be in these 2 individual custom sub boxes behind the rear seats.
    • JVC KW-V940BW receiver
    • Front doors:
      $95 Rockford Fosgate R169X3 Prime 6” x 9” 3-Way Full-Range Coaxial Speaker (Pair)
      Rockford Fosgate R169X3 65 rms/ 130 peak
    • Rear doors:
      $70 Rockford Fosgate R165X3 Prime 6.5" Full-Range 3-Way Coaxial Speaker (Pair) , black
      Rockford Fosgate R165X3 45rms/ 90 peak
    • Audiotek AT810M 1 ch. 1200W mono power amplifier for the subs
    • Audiotek AT404 4 ch. 400W stereo power amplifier for the doors.
    • Tweeters: Rockford Fosgate P1T-S
    • Metra black dash kit
    • Ended up with 2 Harmony wiring harnesses because I didn't realize the dashkit I ordered came with one so I ordered one.
    • Ethereal RCA cable 6.5'
    • Ethereal RCA cable 3.2'
    • Audiotek RCA cable 12'
    • Audiotek RCA cable 15'( might have too many)
    • Audiotek AGU fuse 4AWG distribution block w/ fuses
    • Audiotek ANL fuse power distribution block w/ fuses
    • Audiotek remote level control for the subs
    • 15'-20' 4AWG wire
    • A pack or 2 of close ended wire caps
    What do you guys think? I'd like for my steering wheel controls to still work so I'm thinking of buying the idatalink maestro as the JVC unit says its compatible or ready for it and it has a specific port on the pack of the unit labeled idatalink. Leaving the backup camera in the rearview mirror because I like it there; i use my mirror when backing up anyway so to me it feels more natural like that. Since this is my first time replacing a factory stereo I'm a bit nervous. If anyone has any helpful tips or advice or if you can think of an article or post already on here I'd appreciate it. I'll post before during and after pics when the install is done

    Welcome to TW... I'd seriously consider installing RAAMAT or Dynamat or some type of sound deadening product as it will make even the stock sound system 1000 times better....

    Can someone tell me if door speaker adapters are necessary? My friend I have helping me says we don't need them but after doing research on it everything I've read says that I'll need them. My friend has done stereos b4 but not in trucks or in a Toyota. Just wanna b sure my install is as smooth as possible. Thanks for the welcomes too!

    I dont think it will be possible to install the speakers without the brackets. It been about a year since i did mine, but i think the cutouts in the doors are to big to installed without. I do recommend doing the Maestro. I paired it with my Kenwood DDX9704S and i love it!
