Please god no. I am done hoarding Tacoma parts.

 

i paid like 340 for what i got. and its big. is it perfect? no. but its up gradable simply enough

Oh really? I had though you would need a 4wd ecu if you wanted to do the push button ADD swap like 03-04 were. If I'm not mistaked 01-02 had ADD but not push button. That's what I want if I ever convert. I haven't looked into all the details yet though.

Nope. I'm done. Threw all that crap into a bin and shut it away into the garage. After going through all my Pick-n-Pull receipts I am done.

 

some had add and j shift. some had add and push button. my j shift transfer case i have for my taco is from an 04

 

Im going to try and add the wires i need for the ADD to work. if not i'll find a used engine harness from a wreaked 02 4x4. i believe all the dash wiring is there though. its just the engine harness that has the connections for the ADD that isnt wired

 

Ah I see, good to know. I always thought 01-02 was J-shift ADD & 03-04 were push button ADD. J-shift ADD is what I would do, I don't want manual hubs even though they're said to be more reliable.

 

Lol, yeah true dat, my garage has always been a shop, even before I got into machining.

 

Yes, I distinctly remember the 4WD model (2002) had that little push button. I could of course be wrong, it was 17 f-ing years ago and these days I cant even remember the commute half the time

 

All I see are grocery receipts.

But seriously, god damn, they should give you a VIP pass.

 

im converting my 01 to j shift from a push button. i dont like having one more actuator that can fail. j shift also feels better to use

 

Ok, I'm going to start a deep dive into this topic tomorrow. Need to get up to speed on the options, terminology, etc. I want to retain automatic, don't want to go to a manual transmission. Sure, I can drive a stick without issue just don't want to anymore. I'd love to have that push button and not manual hubs. I just need to know does the transmission have to be out of a 3.4 or can I use a trans out of a 4 cyl. so many options.

How tf you know I love the IS300?!!? My dentist brother in Waco TX had one a while back but he traded it in when they got their GX460, SOOOO nice. And he got an ISF to daily lmao. But we always talked of 'when I moved there' (I've been saying it for years lol) we would put a blower on the IS300 and redo the suspension etc.
