Pisgah up near Max Patch, Harmon's Den I want to say. Went to bed with it being 60 degrees and a light wind and woke up at 3 am with rain/sleet and gusts of at least 40.

I'm all for the cold but I was simply caught off guard and was not prepared. I think we left camp at 8 am

Oh, yeah, up on top of the mountain I'm sure you were feeling it. Got me wishing I was doing some camping. Maybe we'll get to camp at The Flats for Eddy's birthday bash.

Haha yep. was nice weather to walk around blowing rock and get a hot chocolate/coffee. Gotta be prepared, hopefully you learned to look at a forecast.

    When's that again?
I'm heading to Philly for a wedding next weekend and decided to drive so I can camp at Flagpole Knob before and after.

The thing is, both myself and the girlfriend looked at the forecast at least 3 days leading up to us leaving and there was 30% chance of rain those 3 days. Nope. The damn sky opened up haha
I definitely learned that the mountains have a mind of their own and I will most certainly be more prepared next time.

Maybe need to look at other apps. We were seeing cold, rainy, and windy for the last couple days in Boone/Blowing Rock. Max Patch isn't that far away to have such different weather.

Good point. I use WeatherBug and they seem to be one of the more accurate apps, but I didn't think of cross checking the reports.

Weather Underground is my choice. You can get more localized weather.

These are good, too. You can really get a good idea of what is going on.
