I just had a 6" fabtech installed. Front shocks are stock. No additional lift add-ons. My question is how strict are they on getting the recon for a 6" lift. I plan to change rims and tires at a later time. I know I'll have to redo the recon. But my main concern is passing with this lift.

Anybody pass RECON for 285 tire with 8" wide rim?
    I'm plan to change Wheel & Tire, 285/70-17, 17X8 4.5BS, 0-Offset
I know its gonna stick out from fender flare little.
    Anybody have experience?

    Mahalo!

I have a 6" fabtech lift with 12.5x35x17 tires and I can pass. (even the inspector was tripp'n):D
But if you want to be safe? Just go down with the stock tires on to get your recon.

Just remember that the paper work will show what size tire you came in with. So when you do your safety check you need to put your stockers back on.

Sort of true? But the station will look; if the tires stick out and the paperwork states stock tires size? They might not give you your safety check.

Even if my tires stick out, because the size is listed on my paperwork as acceptable. I can get safety checks anywhere.;):D

Just got my recon done yesterday. no probs w/6" lift had plenty of room to spare. one thing I had stock tires and rims. charge was $15. according to the inspector it's a 1 time charge once you get your recon sticker. If I heard him correctly, rims and tires on lifted vehicles require a recon. cannot stick out pass fender flares and mud flaps.

Good luck guys. was a long wait but not as stressful as I thought.

Man, I wish I was in the same boat as you guys but I went with the Camburg 4" spindle lift in the front. There's no way i could run the stocks on there without slapping 1.5" spacers(otherwise the stock rim will dig into the spindles). Any suggestions? I'm dying to find fender flares but either no one makes it for a 2009 Tacoma or its just plain ugly. The other option is that black rubber lining used for gardens but that's one step above ugly(it's fugly). I got about 10 more months till my safety expires.
