My rig was buried in snow for a couple months, and torn apart in the garage for a couple more, but finally back into camping season.

    Imagine me right now.
Last year just me and my girlfriend took a 2 week road trip from Ohio to CO, UT, WY and MT and everything between north and south. I had a long bed then and we packed so much shit in the cap we could barely get to the stuff we needed in the bed. (Had a RTT then)
Now I have a short bed and I’m taking the two week trip again this year straight out to Bozeman to get the GFC with her and a dog with a short bed. :annoyed:
Everything on the two day long trip out will basically go uncovered in the bed and I’ll have to lug it into a hotel at least two nights.
We’re also taking two MTBs on the hitch this year. We should look like the Beverly Hillbilly’s when we pull into GFC. :hattip:

Needless to say, I’m going to be skimping down a lot from last year. I might not even take a change of clothes. :)

Got a change to install my OME HD Dakar leaf pack this weekend. Huge difference in the way it drives and rides. Well worth the money for the lift.

Fuck. After waiting 8 months and driving from SoCal to Belgrade and back our camper and it won’t fit in the garage. Street parking not an option.

Should’ve spent $2 on a tape measure. For now try airing down your tires pretty low and you might fit.

Looking good fellas! I like the contrast with the gold wheels on your trucks. @STravis are you the first GFC Taco on 37's?

I think so. Jim Bob is on 37's also, but I think he had already taken his camper off when he put the tires on.

Darn it! Always second haha. Thanks  I had to tub back a couple inches. I went all the way back to the bottom fender mounting bolt and relocated the body mount.

Thanks man. I'll eventually have the same front suspension as you I hope, but the tubbing wasn't too bad actually. I'm not sure exactly what these measure to but they are huge.

Everyone overpacks these days. Keep the endless consumerism out of the wilderness, and let the wilderness into your mindset. The biggest shame of the current fad to “get outside” is that there’s a million companies trying to convince you you need a huge pile of crap (they are selling) to do it, which really defeats the purpose. You are supposed to be liberating yourself from our human-built environs, hence “getting away from it all”.

Less is always more. Guys hike the Matterhorn with just what they have in their backpacks. When you see the endless shit people take truck-camping, it’s embarrassing sometimes.

Be proud of what you don’t need to go camping, not all the fancy shit you own to do it.

Rant over......a beer with dinner always does this to me.

I'm with you. I pack a few changes of clothes, which I only end up using if I get soaked from rain or sweat. Otherwise, I end up wearing the same shorts, underwear and wool t-shirt for up to a week with no problems.
