I'm kinda wishing I hadn't bought a 1911 just now so I'd have more $$ for mags and ammo. But oh well, I'm picking it up today. I only have 9mm pistols so it'll be nice to have a .45 ACP.

You reload your own ammo for the 300 or did you buy them?

Reload, in fact I don't think I have ever bought a single box of .300BLK. I built my first .300 rifle back during the last big ammo scare and it wasn't available anywhere and if I could find it the price was higher than .308 so I just bought a die set and started my own.

The bay, coastline, lakes and rivers are crowded with boats trying to recover all those magazines from the boating accidents a few years back.

I do it all on a single stage press so it is pretty slow going for me. The majority of the work is in the case prep, the actual loading does take a bit but I feel like prepping take even more time. Most of the .300 I do comes from 5.56 brass that I chop down in a mini Harbor Freight chop saw so I have to de-burr once after I do that, then after sizing it needs to be trimmed slightly to square the case mouth so then it needs to be de-burred again.

I mostly enjoy doing it just to try different bullets and experiment with stuff not available off the shelf.

Picked this up cheap. It's a mix master but has waffen marks .1938 P08 Luger.

Great grips on the little Sig.

    My 938 came with them.

    Thanks!

You're lucky, mine had the rubber ones. The G10 were hard to find with the Sig logo on the side. I think Hogue stop making them with the logo.

    I couldn't remember the model.

Had to look it up....the Extreme.

    https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p938-extreme-micro-compact.html

Those grips are what sold me on it vs the wood. I never thought I'd be able to shoot such such a small gun so well. It really handles well. The backstrap, grips and checkered frontstrap work well to anchor the small gun in hand......even with +P+ loads.

I believe Hogue also made some similar looking grips for other handguns. I was thinking about a pair for a P226.

Here's the new Rock Island. I threw some GI style grips and an arched mainspring housing on it to make it consistent with the M1911 A1 service pistol. Also have it loaded with 8 rounds of 230 grain Hornady Critical Duty (not Defense, I want to be able to penetrate a mountain lion's skull) in a Wilson Combat magazine. Had to make more of a detent on the safety as it would move around a bit, but other than that the fit and finish is good for a $400 pistol. IMG_20190401_161619.jpg

I dig it. What do think about the Taurus PT1911? I know Taurus catches a lot of shit but the 1911 has really good reviews.

A friend I know bought it for $125 and no magazine. He bought the magazine and fired a couple rounds and sold it to me for the cost of the rifle plus the magazine! :)

    Thanks!
I haven't looked into Taurus much as a brand but I think I'd rather look at Smith and Wesson, Springfield, or something like that. You may have to pay more for the brand name, but usually they have better parts and customer service it seems like.

    It really is.

Tote mine in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. Running some errands this morning and wearing drawstring UA gym pants and it's riding just fine in a front pocket. Can't beat it.

It bumped my S&W Airweight 442 out of pocket carry use for me as the trigger & sights work much better for me. Another thing I really like is the night sights on it have an identical look as the sights I'm used to on my P226's.

I'll have to admit....I was a skeptic when they first came out.....but rented one at the range and knew right away that it was going to work well.
