It does relate to what material characteristics to look for; the treatment and hardness of the shock shaft, Viton vs Buna N in the seal materials, and the seal construction, regardless of make. As for Fox vs King, the article would indicate Fox 2.0" shock uses better materials than 2.0" Kings. Not sure if the materials.change for King or Fox in the 2.5" size, or what materials are used in ADS, but does give you an idea of what to look for in comparison.

It was interesting to see the tensile strength is higher in that of Fox vs Kings in the piston rods.
I'm curious how ADS stacks up against these figs

For my own application, temperature extremes and resistance to airborne gravel damage rank high on the list of things to consider. Just rebuilt my 2.0" diameter emulsion rear shocks, Walker Evan's brand, and interesting to see the seals and their material choices - used Viton on shaft Oring for sure, and I believe the cupped seal with wiping portion, though the 2nd primary wiping seal appears to be buna material. The shraeder valve used Viton with double Orings.

Makes me wonder if I should put the rubber boots back on over the shafts, but many say that that can cause more problems. I don't live in the rust belt though

I’m interested in ADS but not quite ready to purchase.
As far as the difference between adjustable and non adjustable. What are most of you guys doing? I feel like for what I would end up encountering I don’t need the extra adjustability, but if I’m spending 3500, what’s another 600?

I bought adjustable, glad I did because I use it all the time depending on terrain and load.

How are you spending $3500? Are you getting a complete leaf pack and UCAs as well?

    Thanks,
Yes, from what I’ve been told I should do a full rear leaf pack and UCAs. I think that’s still debatable but trying to plan for everything. Comes in at $4100 with the adjusters at headstrong.

Message Marie at Headstrong and see if she has any discounts/deals going with any inventory leftover from last year. I got my rears for a lot cheaper that way

These won't help clear tires any more than stock. Your up travel is still the same. Unless you never cycle your suspension, then it will help.

I got the adjustors front and rear and am glad I did. The difference between each click is very noticeable. Even if you don't plan on adjusting them all the time, the adjustors allow you to dial in the ride to be perfect for your truck so you're not just stuck with the valving that ADS gives you.

When I get ready to buy I’ll see what is available. Maybe wait for a group buy or Black Friday sale. I’ve talked to Marie a few times and she has been super helpful.

For anybody wondering. I measured my rear shocks today at full droop with my Dakar medium leaf pack and I had 10” of shock shaft showing from the cylinder to where the shock mount collar starts. Pretty darn impressive

This is what my shocks look like after one winter. I lubed them down twice this winter with fluid film. We use salt but it doesn’t snow that often here. Here are some pictures after I hot water pressure washed them today.

I heard these hold up to salt better than other brands. I would say that my ADS haven’t held up well. The aluminum bodies of all the shocks are oxidized. All of the hardware is rusted and both rear lower shock mounts are rusted.

Yup. I think so for only one winter in a relatively mild state. I can’t image how they’d look after a Michigan or New England winter.
