Hey guys, I haven't seen anything here on the forum yet, but I saw in my notes that the dealer applied a recall on my invoice so I looked it up. There's a brand new recall issued 3/28/19 for 2018-2019s.

Also, note my 2018 has the faux pro grille on with garnish and they didn't say anything about it.

    Title
SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN K0B (Remedy Notice) - Certain 2018 – 2019 Model Year Tacoma and Tundra - Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor
    Status
    Remedy Available
    Description
The involved vehicles are equipped with a Pre-Collision System (PCS) that may automatically apply the brakes if the system detects a potential collision. Due to the mounting of one of the system’s sensors, it is possible for water to enter the sensor. This can lead to PCS deactivation or inadvertent brake activation resulting in limited deceleration for a short duration of time.
    Remedy
Any authorized Toyota dealer will update the PCS software and apply sealer to the millimeter wave radar sensor in the front grille. In the rare case that the vehicle is currently exhibiting the condition, dealers will diagnose the sensor and replace the sensor, as necessary, FREE OF CHARGE.
    Campaign Date
    March 28, 2019
    Dealer Reference ID
    K0B

    My invoice/notes from dealer attached.

I didn’t think the PCS actually applied the brakes.
I thought it just amplified what your foot put into it..

Nope, it absolutely will apply the brakes for you if it thinks it has to.

It waits quite late into a possible collision but it has definitely 100% on its own applied the brakes for me without any input on my end

The applied "sealer" is concerning if I upgrade to a pro grill down the road.

My brake warning had been going off randomly over the past month, about once a week. Never applied the brakes but couldn't figure out why. Looks like this was the culprit.

I looked on the toyota owner's website and it showed mine was part of the recall.

Mine is an original OEM Pro grille and would like to know if anyone has experienced dealers being stupid about it as well.

Is driving into a bunch of cardboard boxes a good way to test it out?
