    Very interesting.

I do let my phone auto update, but always check what was updated in case it is something fun or bad.

You guys can complain and whine about it all you want, and some can waste their time fighting it, but it is clearly written that apps can be changed without notice. Does it suck? Sure does, I used Pandora when it was there. I was disappointed when the update took it away, but I didn't loose any sleep over it.

I wish I knew you guys back when the TV stations went from analog to digital and you had to buy the converter boxes or a new t.v. :D

I bought an 18 and wish I'd waited for a 20 but then some new bell or whistle will be on the 21 or 22...

I actually appreciated that change, as it was for the better.

I did about the same with my 17. Bought it in March. I found no credible information on what the changes would be added to the 18 prior to buying, but March was too soon for real info. Had I known that the 18 would have the added TSS with radar cruise, I MIGHT have waited.

With that said I am quite happy with my truck. I chose the trim that I did for the safety features included and the fact that it was immediately available.

I am slowly adding mods for items I want. Adding TSS would not be worth the expense, so it will not happen. The Entune in my 17 has fewer features than the JVC I put in the 04 I traded in for the 17. I may change the HU for the added functions in the aftermarket units depending on how soon I run out of other "projects" and/or decide I "have" to have AA. Though more likely I will wait for the next year/gen Taco and trade in.

Pandora was recently bought by Sirius/XM. Completely wild guess, but I bet Sirius was the one that broke the partnership. Why give a commercial free version of Pandora to some customers for free when you're also trying to sell them a subscription product.

I have read a few articles on the change. It was not "just" the buy out, though likely linked to it somewhat.

Synopsis of multiple articles which all gave the same basic story.
Basically the Entune 2 OS was not compatible with the typical programming of Pandora as were a few other non-Toyota devices. Pandora told these atypical device companies that they would no longer support re-coding of their app and that the devices would have to conform the the standards they did code for. The normal coding they do is for Windows, Apple, Android, and maybe 1 or 2 others. If the devices using other OS wanted to continue with Pandora they would have to update to the OS or device themselves. Pandora would no longer make a custom version of the app for so many different possible OS options.

If you have an Android phone, an app called "Tasker" should be able to do it. I use Tasker to turn on BT when I'm out of range of my home or office WiFi. Then it turns BT off again when I return. It's also programmed to make my phone go silent for preset hours every night, so I'm not awakened by the phone ringing or text messages.

Tasker is great. And it will certainly can be programmed to open pandora when you connect to your car's bluetooth (I think killing Pandora after disconnecting from bluetooth might require root access.... unless Android has gotten more lenient since the last time I rooted and used tasker two phones ago).

However I think there's a setting in the Pandora app under the setting "Advanced" to start Pandora when it connects to your vehicle's bluetooth (Launch from Car). The language of the menu item is a little weird, so I'm not sure if it'll automatically open when connected, or just gives your car permission to open it if it can. It can't hurt trying this first.

I’ve enjoyed reading this thread. I have never used Pandora, or any app on my HU except nav, weather and the fuel finder which usually doesn’t connect when I really want to know where the closest gas station is. Oh, and the hands-free phone. But I don’t use voice commands on my phone or with the truck either. I listen to FM radio 25% of the time, my iPhone music 5% of the time, and the sound of the road (or wind kazoo) the rest of the time. OTOH I worked in the tech industry for 30+ years and have way too many apps on my phone. Just don’t want to do that stuff while I’m driving.

Has anyone had the issue to where the radio will just reboot itself while driving? It mainly happens when I make a call, the screen will go black and basically restarts like when you start up the truck?? I told the dealer about it but they just wanted me to leave the truck there for them to look at it.

I have has the reboot issue with mine. Reflashed the radio... Problem was still there... This was very consistent too as in a few spots on my hour commute was where it would happen all the time.

Broke my phone and got rid of my moto for an LG and had NOT happened since. Odd? Yes... Did I look much further, nope. Havent had a reboot since October.

I'll have to go back and check, but I got this notification on the Entune app saying there was an update removing the movie tickets app. So maybe that's what the update was that I took a picture of a few weeks back?
