From San Antonio, live in Houston now. Have a lot of friends from the valley. When I was a younger man I may have liked crossing the border here and there. I wouldn't say boring, just a different change of pace

I think that if there was a walking dead or apocalypse scenario id wanna be zooming around in a 1000+ HP caged truck lol... has there been any movies yall can think of that feature those type of vehicles??

It's been a while since I've been on the Texas thread but I need some help. Can anyone refer a lawyer specializing in finance?

A little backstory for anyone interested. I recently changed careers and no longer needed a commuter car in Houston. I sold it to Texas Direct Auto for 12k (owed 9k on it to Wells Fargo). The check TDA sent to WF to payoff the loan was reversed. So the loan is still active and TDA has possession of my car. According to TDA, WF is at fault and vice versa. Neither company is owning up to it or providing proof. I keep getting the run around and not sure what to do at this point.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried talking to their accounts payable? They’d have record of it not clearing and if you have the selling paperwork, they’re obligated to pay

Accounts payable in TDA doesn't have a phone extension and can only be emailed in-house. At least that's what I'm told. They're stance is that WF stopped the check from getting deposited. WF states that someone at TDA put a stop-payment on the check. :annoyed:

Since TDA claims the fault is on WF, they've technically fulfilled their responsibility to payoff the loan. Apparently they're trying to connect with WF to figure it out but it's been over a week.

I played this game years ago with a lost mortgage payment, the secret is a 3 way call with managers from both companies. You've likely been talking to each company separately where they both have the opportunity to blame the other party. If you have decision makers from each place on the line they will be able to do you won't get from front line operators. It might be nefarious, it might be a simple misunderstanding but this is the simplest way to sort it out. Make a log book before you call the next time and write down everything you know, have done, were told and will be able to quickly receive that if asked. Instead of having to pull up a loan number on your cell phone or look at your call log you'll have it written down in front of you.

Before you hire a lawyer, small claims court is an option, name both of them and it will likely get settled before your date because the case is simple. You sold a car, you have yet to receive the full benefit of that sale. It is way cheaper than a lawyer and you can ask for filing fees in your damages. The limit in Texas is 10k so you are under it. You would file in the county you did business with TDA in, likely Harris.

Avoid mentioning a lawyer or even legal action to them at all, if you decide to hire one the first time they hear about it should be from your lawyer. Once you mention a lawyer Wells Fargo will shut down and only let their legal team handle it which will get expensive for you. Texas Direct likely has a similar policy. People that threaten legal action are often bluffing and big businesses call that bluff by stonewalling and waiting for a summons. Let a demand letter from your lawyer announce your intent to pursue matters legally. If you do need to hire a lawyer the Texas Bar has a referral service that will connect you with an appropriate lawyer in the right jurisdiction and it includes a $20 30 minute consultation.

Its on my radar, just don't they look very good tbh. But the practically might just out weigh the looks. Especially if I could rig it to have a fuel cell, full size spare and RTT. Been wanting to put a fuel cell in the bed anyway... Want the bed to be literally just fuel cell, spare tire with an RTT on top, and maybe mount a hi lift somewhere overlandy

@Bigdaddy4760 the only dent I really care about is the one under the access window :bananadead:

And sucks about Jambo man. Its even raining all week so I probably won't be able to fuck with my truck. No way i'd fix everything in time anyway. Y'all have fun for me. Make @Texoma actually go off road instead of driving the park road to tower and be a bad influence on others :oldglory:
