Yea, I know what you are talking about. We use to run into that/those types too. The doctors and lawyers that bought a H-D and some leather, got a tattoo and thought they were bikers. Luckily I hung with a core group of friends and family that were truly blue collar and things never got that way. Unfortunately two of our closest friends (husband and wife) were killed by a guy that said he feel asleep and crossed the center line. They were out riding alone one day while off from work. After that tragedy things for our group never seemed the same. It took about 7 years of just falling outta interest and eventually the wife and I just worked too much and rode less and less. I finally had my dream bike and in the three years I had it I put 1,700 miles on it.

So yea, as you said, there are two constants in life. I can honestly say I was glad to finally sell my trike and use the money for things that interested me at the time.

One of these days though I'd like to get an enduro. Something.

    It’s a lifestyle bro.

Meh, it’s really you just trying to look like a hardass. I ride solo or with my family. Got a bunch of affiliated friends, nope. Been asked to join a few clubs but I got nothing to prove to them.

I know it is a life style, it used to be a life style you would seek out, now it seems, that lifestyle makes it a point to seek out others and “convince” them to join.

I see it more and more with everything, even on TW, which is why I pick and choose where I post. I never go out on the bike trying to look like a badass, I know my skills and I like being free from citations or silver bracelets.
Which is why I don’t attend bike events that are not things like AMA or GP racing, or try to get on a list so I can go ride.

If TTC ever becomes a demanding “lifestyle” I will probably leave.
Optional meetings once a month, optional events, no dues, no set in stone chain of command, bunch of like minded peps in a parking lot bullshittin if you want to. That is family.

You know more than I, I try to steer clear of any of that. Got enough problems of my own.

I hear ya there, I kinda stopped trying to do that, can’t please everyone ya know?
Kinda like when I had a Facebook account, spent more time sanitizing and trying to be in everyone’s good graces instead of doing what I needed to do in life.

Maybe I’m just turning into Clint in Gran Torino....

Perfect. Reminds of when I went to college, after my Army days. Was asked by a few folks if I was going to join a frat; told them I'd already been in the biggest one in the world...

The only club I ever hang around in is the SFMC, but I'm not a member, it's a military organisation club and my dad and a bunch of the people I babysat for as a teenager and had bbq's with when I was a dependent are in it.

I even find the “M/C” mentality when it come to something even as personal as your choice of carry sidearm.

To much involvement in others choices. Guess it makes us humans feel good bout ourself if we question and harass others.

    Insert good Clint line here....

    I prefer Clint Smith.

Conducting future camping PCCs, looks like I need to pick up some stuff and clean my stove... Eww...
