Tacoma has just about the worst seating/steering wheel position out of close to 30 vehicles I've owned. The rest of it makes up for it for the most part though.

I believe until there is a cab redesign you won't see height adjustment. The cab is simply too short to have any meaningful adjustment in seat height from the factory.

You fit ok without a sunroof. Imagine the roof 4 inches lower and you being 4 inches taller. That has to be uncomfortable I'm guessing.

Not all of the height may be upper torso.

I think the seating position is worse with longer legs.

You'll have shorter arm's so the seat has to be more upright. A long torso allows you to lean back.

Does a short torso mean shorter arms? I thought the correlation was more with overall height than torso. Generally speaking.

    Nevermind--got what you're saying.

6’4” and with no sunroof I fit pretty good my head isn’t even close to the roof. My only concern is how close my knee is to the steering wheel, makes getting in a bit more difficult then other vehicles.

I’m hoping that over time my seat foam settles and feels more like my 1st gen. Besides some clearance issues the seats are comfortable for me.

Hey man I might do this soon and was wondering what was the width/length of the 3/16" steel flat bar? I notice there's a gap to be filled between the sliding rail bar and the floor bolt mount when the "feet" mount are removed. Are you still satisfied with these results?

    Thanks!!

Is the third worse then your second?? Update this thread with pics if you do this . Best option I’ve seen is altering the seat bottom foam.

I've read that the Off-Roads have a taller (and maybe stiffer?) bottom seat cushion than other models, to probably see over the hood better for off-roading and this small difference is crazy high and uncomfortable for me. I'm around 5'10/5'11 and wanting to do the cushion shaving as well as the feet removal mod since I've got the sunroof too. Someone on TW said when they sat in a 3rd gen SR5 and then the off-road he immediately noticed the height difference.

I had a 2015 DCSB SR5 that was in the repair shop for a small fender bender and got a call saying they accidently caught my truck on fire and it's totalled. I LOVE this truck but this is my only major issue so far.

Damn, yeah that sunroof is a no go for me. I’m 6’4” and I am managing just fine but it would be nice to have some more leg room getting in and out. My old first gen was way better in this regard. Wearing work boots is uncomfortable for me.

Sorry to hear about your truck catching fire. Hopefully you made out on that incident. Keep us updated on what you end up doing.

These new power seats don’t look promising for getting us lower. Maybe they will and I can find a totaled 2020’s drivers seat and make a swap.

This actually kind of sounds real sketchy after looking at the space between the sliding rail and the floor bolt mount and was wondering if you could please take pictures of your set-up? Does it feel like a good solid secure connection?

    I really appreciate your reply!!

Edit: Honestly you could probably write up a 'sticky' worthy thread to help a lot of people if you think it's a solid set-up. Just a thought, thanks again!!

Yeah they made it right after a couple months of back and forth emails, phone calls, lies, and exchanging comp prices to prove my trucks value. I'll definitely keep yall updated on what I do and a member on here that lives close to me had a shop shave his bottom driver's seat on his TRD pro and had great results. He's very cool about letting me check out his seat if I want to and gave me the upholstery shop's info and all. I just got back from vacation so I'll have to get back to him and see what's up.

Why is it that reading this thread reminds me of the story of the Princess and the Pea. :anonymous:

I'm 6' 0" tall and have no problems with the seat height.
All of you DID test drive the truck and compare it to the competition before buying it didn't you? :crapstorm:

Actually, a sunroof might be a better option than lowering the seat. :anonymous:
