i know this another clunk post but I’ve tried everything everyone has suggested so far.

A little update on the truck. In the past 2 weeks I’ve replaced lca bushings, axles, lower ball joints done today, pulled uca bushings and regreased, new alignment bolts and tabs. Have checked lca bolt torque over and over. Only happens on the passenger side. Hit a small bump and thud/clunk.

I did happen to notice laying under it this evening that the little spring/wire clip on the back side of the brake pads on the passenger side was popped out. Don’t think this is what is making the noise but just adding that.

Seems like I’ve pretty much rebuilt the whole front end. It initially happened after my first alignment so I figuredd it was the lca bolts not tight enough but I have personally put 130 ft lbs of torque on them.

Any ideas what this may could be. I’ve been in and out of the engine bay pulling and prying on stuff. Rubber hammered everything I can think of.

Seems like all I’ve done is work on this thing. Lol. Just done the vsc kill switch mod and got that took care of along with stopping the rear leaf spring pop. But this clunk is driving me crazy

find a road with a section of area that causes the thud........is it clanking like metal on metal?

if so, go down that road at normal speed to make the noise happen.
    make u turn....
another u turn at the end, and repeat the original path
go down it again at SAME SPEED GENTLY DRAGGING THE BRAKES...........LIGHT pressure on the brake pedal.

    Does the noise stop?

Mine does, so I wrote it off as zero fox............I run EBC stage 5 brakes and figure the shims are different, or the grease wore off the backing part of the pad maybe?
Thus its moving around not much different than the "forward/backward/stop" clunk. Full floating pads or some crap IIIRC.

I wanna say toyota had a quiet tsb for this years ago and had new spring/keeper and some crazy expensive grease in the TSB

When I leave my house I have a pretty steep gravel driveway. There are a few bumps up it that makes it do it but I also notice it going down and I have to ride the brakes on the way down. It’s a pretty distinct thud.

Yeah this is about my last complaint with the truck. I was really hoping the new lbj today was gonna fix it.

Would anyone think that low nitrogen pressure in my Kings could cause this??

Check if you have mud caked up in the front cab mount area behind the wheel well. If it cakes up it can cause a good thud when the cab/frame flex but the body mount bushings that are supposed to absorb/dampen the motion are unable to do so because the normally empty space is filled.

Will try this for sure. I was kinda thinking the only thing left would be body mount bushings

Front brake pads low caused me to have a clunk noise, sounded like front suspension, metal to metal clunk like the lca was shifting or something. New front pads and the dual spring mod made the noise go away. 08F36142-6C4C-41A4-9643-EEB3A3F362EE.jpg

So I wonder if I can just buy the second set of springs. I’d be willing to try anything right now

Would this brake clunk be loud enough to be heard inside the cab. Cause I swear it sounds like my shocks/struts are loose. But they’ not. Lol

@Barhopper per the op you changed the lca bushings, correct? Did you by chance replace the oem bushings with moog? They are notorious for coming loose in the lca and causing a clunk. Get under and eyeball all four bushings and make sure they're still pressed in.

Yes I did Moog bushings. It seemed to me they took quiet a bit of pressure to get them in. Buuttttt on the other hand this noise was the reason I did lca bushings in the first place. And the first test ride afterwards was the same as before.
