It’s a good deal get it
    It won’t disappoint

You can easily get another 10+ years maybe more out of it, then whatever breaks you can replace and keep it going

Much better deal than a bank loaned 3rd gen

What’s your opinion based off the photos?

    I feel 12k is a good deal

You can't really expect to find out if it's a "good deal" by asking internet strangers that live somewhere else if it's a good deal. There are people here who think spending more than 8k for a ~20 year old truck is absurd. I've also seen trucks go for 16-18k, too.

Not to put pressure on you, but let's say you pass because they don't come down $200. Are you willing to walk on it over less than 2% of the cost? It's almost guaranteed there's someone in line behind you that won't hesitate to throw that kind of money at it.

The question is, do YOU think it's a good deal? Are you confident the truck is in good shape? Can you afford it? Is this what you want?

The frame looks pretty clean. A little surface rust. The main area of concern is right by the front leaf spring hangers.

Have you looked at it yet? bring a hammer when you go.

i will ditto what jbrandt said, I have not had the chance to personally inspect it/check the oil/test drive it, etc
the interior is in better shape than some I have seen online

might be a good idea to get a professional independent mechanic to give it good thorough checkup if the seller would let you do that
the mileage is reasonably low at 100k, I was looking at a 95.5 in CO with about 200kmiles that they want $15k for still after a month

you should get a money back gaurantee!

if you keep it in good working order you can pass it along to the next enthusiast and get the next deal!

I’ve never understood the astronomical prices these trucks hold, but you can rest assured knowing you won’t lose that much money on it at the end of the day.

Biggest worry is the frame and the timing belt. If you’re dead set on a first gen, $1000~ probably shouldn’t be a breaking point at that point.. but that’s me.

 a rebuilt engine (if and when necessary) probably would cost much less than 3rd gen (maybe 2nd gen too)

If I would see f-cked up interior I would walk away, not even for parts. It shows the owner does not care and that imply the rest of the vehicle is abused. If I see pimped interior, I would expect the pimped mechanical stuff too (polish turd is still a turd).

Not seeing the truck and driving it it is hard to tell, but it looks like quite used with some maintenance already past due, but no obvious signs of abuse or hiding. With a little TLC it might come back to full glory (if mechanically sound). Is it all rust or just desert dust?

Biggest worry is the frame. Period. Timing belt is an easy fix ($300 in parts for timing belt, water pump, drive belts, pullies etc) and the 3.4L is non-interference, so no big deal if it decides to fail prematurely. If the frame is solid and it looks pretty rust free, I'd say $12k is a decent price.

It’s just caked on dirt. It needs new tires and an alignment. I’m going to try and make the timing belt work for a bit. I’ll have it cleaned up. I put a $500 deposit to hold until Saturday. Officially it’s marked as sold to me!

I’m curious as to what this is though.

There seems to be some oil or something leaking.
