New owner question about cap brands and leaks

    Hello,

    I just purchased a 2018 Tacoma and now am looking at caps/topper brands (whatever they're called) which I'll be using for truck camping. Today I visited a local Leer dealer and he said "Toyotas and Nissans are awful, they always leak" (regarding the fit of the cap and leaking inside) and he then said "I think we've fixed that problem with a different sealant". He spoke extremely disparagingly about ARE (the other brand I'm considering). So, from everyone's experience here, is he accurate in saying that (generally) caps on Toyota trucks are known for leaking? I realize there is no guarantee for a leak-free interior, but he seemed to really promote Leer (and his "fix" with a new sealant for Toyota and Nissan). Thanks in advance for any help here. BTW love this truck.

    I have no experience with this, but I wouldn’t just take the word of a salesman. In my experience, they are all full of crap.
