    Here's a story.
Me and a feller were fishin a few years ago. He had rigged his boat up so you could fish side by side up front. Instead of having one seat in the center, he had mounted a seat on each side which happened to be on the lids to the built in coolers. It was February. Again, it was February. So we're fishin along, in February, and he said "grab me a soda out of that cooler". So I spin my seat and slightly lean over and the lid pops open. The water temp was about 37 deg and I am dressed for cold weather (not cold water). So I fall in and go completely under, pop back up and scramble my fat, wet ass back in the boat. It sucked the breath out of me. As soon as I get back in the boat he says, "you know we're gonna keep fishin don't ya?" As I start to turn blue (no shit) and teeth chattering, I say, "how the fuck you figure that?" Come to find out he had 3 days worth of clothes in the back seat of his truck. Everything. Socks, bibs, boots, shirts, pants....all of it. So I walk up to his truck and start changing. I get completely naked and three old dudes walk up to his truck. I look out the window and say, "hey, how's it goin."

For the lakes that close out here.... I would through out a fly line (no weight), just a large hook and the whole head of a mackerel. Cut it and tie it to something secure like a log or good stick and put a bunch of rocks on top of it. Go back to camp, eat and putter around then check on it every couple hours until I went to bed if I did at all. Typically around 11, sneak back down to the lake and bass fish until 3 or 4 in the morning hiding along the bank and in bushes to not get caught by the rangers.
On 3 occasions I had very very large cat fish on the end. 2 were pretty uneventful as they both got away fairly early in the fight to drag them from the bottom of the lake in whatever hole they swam into.
The third one was a just a dick and tried to drown me. I threw it in a cove through a small clearing of a bunch of tullies into the center of the cove. Went back to camp and drank, ate, played football with the neighbors camping. At 9 I went down to check the line, it was not where I left it lying. It was there, but the line now stretched to the right toward the mouth of the cove. I picked up the line and gave it a little tug just to see if I could see/follow it in the darkness with my flash light and it not only tugged back, but pulled like a great dance on a short leash. By this time I tell up the hill and tell him he needed to get down to me. He comes down and brings the 2 guys from the next door campsite, cause they know i got a fish on the end.
I start this fight and I am pulling and can only pull so far before I now have to start walking towards this unknown fish. The bank in the cove is 30 to 50 degree slope, so footing is shitty at best. I get myself around a couple of bushes and got to pull on the line and the fucker runs and yanks me straight into the lake waist deep and I am sinking fast. The guy camped next to us reaches out and grabs my hoodie with he tips of his fingers as I fly forward. The proceed to drag me back to land and I continue this fight. This is not a quiet stealth endeavor at this point in the mission. I give a couple more pills and get around a few more bushes. One last pull and the bastard surface 1 foot in front of me, rolls belly up snaps the line and gone forever. Never got a good look at him, but it was in the neighborhood of 15 to 20 lbs.

I was about 15 or 16 and went to the lake with my older brother and his buddy, who had a boat. So we'd been boating and skiing all day and I decide to try my luck fishing off the boat tied off on the bank. The buddy decides to take a swim and dives off the boat. My chair swivels and into the water I go. Clothes and all. Lost my glasses which I'm blind without and no dry clothes. So they build a fire and I have to sit there in my fruit of the looms trying to get dry. The lake was too deep to try to find my glasses so the parents weren't too happy. At least it wasn't february.
