Yeah it's in the trim on a 2018 Explorer Sport. I got off everything I could with soap and water and then peeled the stuff that dried. I think what is in there is kinda in the pores of the plastic.

Isn't there plastic trim cleaner that removes that sort of residue? I had something turn some of my wife's car's door trim from black to foggy and at the time some product off the shelf at the parts store took it right off.

I honestly haven't even thought to look at an automotive plastic specific plastic cleaner. I will see what I can find and report back.

    Thanks!

Well, it's latex paint anyway so paint thinner won't help. WD-40 or Goo Gone is the way to go.

Screw that Rhino liner. Toyota bed mat is better. The mat I just bought is VERY "sticky". Nothing slides around, and even when you try and slide something you want to slide, it takes some effort.

$75.60 shipped free. Lewis Toyota. There's a thread on the forum giving a heads up to a dealer's sale. About a month ago.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I agree -- its just that someone said paint thinner would hurt the paint. Only way -maybe if you used thinner with a scrub brush and a lot of hard pushing. Otherwise not.

That was me, sorry I was in an early daze. In my head I kept thinking he said acetone and I was typing acetone.

    So this story ends well.

Weather was terrible today, rainy and humid, which probably saved me, along with my tonneau cover. When I got home the primer was mostly still wet and I don't think any of it ever came close to curing. I think the tonneau cover and the humidity kept the paint nice and moist, thankfully.

Here's what it looked like initially:

    IMG_0064.jpg

I wiped up everything I could with some towels first, and then I sprayed it all down with the shower setting on the hose. No pressure washer. After that it looked like this:

    IMG_0066.jpg

And then over the next hour and a half I scrubbed that area down with dishwasher detergent and two nylon brushes, one a medium bristle brush and one a hard bristle brush with a narrow head that got in crevices well. Scrub, rinse, repeat.

    And voila:

    IMG_0071.jpg

There were some very small remnants left, probably the areas that dried and were dry the longest. So I soaked them in goo gone but didn't have the patience to wait more than about five minutes because I just wanted to be done. Didn't make much difference, maybe it would have if I'd have soaked it longer. I really just didn't want all those chemicals in the bed for a long time either.

    Final result:

Couldnt be happier with the results. The bed wasn't anywhere near this clean to begin with!

Really appreciate those of you that advised trying just soap and a brush first. Great advice. I may try getting rid of the little tiny bit that remains with WD40 later on a nice day, but I'm good with it as is.
