this is my first truck with the composite bed . we have been tossing heavy green red oak rounds in it for three hard days. took the beating like a champ!! dam thing is way stronger than it sounds when things are dropped on it!!the 2.7 is a work horse no doubt about it!! ps being able to reach into bed at 5,9 a gift !!anyone hating on these trucks hasn't worked them!!

Only negative I have read of is the bed wearing underneath where it sits on the rails. 2017, so no experience with this personally. Just something I will be keeping an eye on. Very pleased with how it holds up as well.

Some say the bed will crack in the rear corners near the tailgate so I added SS bed stiffners by Rago Fabrication. An added plus is more tie down points.

I do have an ARE topper as well, long bed.

Years ago, when my buddy bought a Polaris Ranger, he was all worried about the composite bed, since it wasn't heavy metal like his 2500 Chevys.
We'll that Ranger is probably about 7-8 years old, and has lumber, rocks, boulders, fire wood, and all kinds of shit thrown in it, at it, tied down, over loaded to hell and back. It stays down at the farm, and gets abused by visitors. Once a year we'll wash it out completely, and it looks nearly new aside from scratches, no gouges, holes, etc.
I'm expecting the Tacoma bed to hold up about the same.

I've loaded so much crap in the bed of my old truck and it's never let me down. Milling machines and lathes, yards and yards of dirt, cords and cords of wood. Thousands of miles with motorcycles or belongings moving from one place to another.

I've never heard of those bed stiffeners until yesterday on this forum. I'm pretty sure if mine was going to fail, it would have by now. But then, I sold the truck last week, so hopefully the new owner doesn't have a problem. I'll have to check it out next time I see him.

Now that is a respectable load of wood! How are you doing with sagging? I have air bags under mine for just these kind of heavy loads.

I did the same with a pair of Caliraised. The bed handles heavy impacts very well. Here is a 14 Bolt FF we had to drop into it. This thing was heavy, it took two of us to get it in there.

When I sold my 07 the thing had no cracks. I didn't even know much about trucks at that time so the thing took a beating.

The beds really only crack if you decide to permanently mount a 250 lb RTT to your bedsides. Steel Tundra beds will also fail with a RTT mounted to them after some off-road use.
