WVA and the surrounding areas have a lot of interesting stuff that you just stumble upon. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good... Like when you camp in the backwoods, and some local 'shiners say you have 10 minutes to pack up and git or they start shooting...

    I've done LA>Phoenix>Moab>Steamboat>Omaha>Indy>NJ

Heading to Michigan next week for a bike race. Thats only about an 11 hour drive though.

Then in August I'm going out to ID for another event and doing some camping and biking along the way. Preliminary route is going to be NJ>OH>IA>WY>ID, Then take a more norther route back home I think. Spread out over almost 3 weeks

Come visit UT. I'd be happy to tag along for a bit if you want a local.

Absolutely! His side of the family lives near Morgantown and Fairmont. There's a few that are out in the backcountry. We tried to go up to the old farm with my uncle and cousin. We stumbled upon the wrong house and the 10 year old me was scared shitless. There's a road called 13 creek road because you cross the creek. But you only cross it 9 times...

Travelling and going on road trips create memories that can last a lifetime.

I did it 1979. Hitchhiking. It was dusty and dirty but was a six week joy of sleeping by the side of the road and eating peanut butter sandwiches. Swimming to cleanup. The whole trip cost $120 and I spent $40 of that on a rain jacket. The people I met were great many buying me food and a couple looking for a drinking buddy.
Minnesota to Seattle to anchorage to Winnipeg to Minnesota
Camping in the Tacoma is way easier.

I did a 7 state run from CA to Colorado and back, wheeled in Moab, CO, and AZ, was on the road for 3 weeks. Setup camp, explore, move onto someplace else. Good times my friends.

That should work. Funny enough I'm heading to Kelowna area shortly after that to enjoy that bike trail myself among other things.

I'll have to look it up. Is it a MTB trail or more of a road bike trail?

Honestly man, do it now if you can! I'm just shy of 27 in a most people hold in their early 30s, and life gets complicated fast.

Every work promotion, relationship, major life event just adds extra rope to tie you down. All good things, but at an opportunity cost for sure. Also a good reason to get as much formal education completed (MBA, etc) as early as you can. It only gets harder.

@Gunshot-6A looks like an awesome trip! Something similar is on my bucket list at some point, hopefully in the next few years. Im probably looking at at least a month off though haha

~5,500 miles and ~100 hours one way. I need to find myself a co-pilot for that one I think haha :bananadead:

Ive done Bangor, ME to Ocala, FL many times before. Several of those times was non-stop with a few buddies (not in a Taco tho). Let me tell you, that sucks. Driving for 27 hours stopping only for food and gas.

Looks like we will be on the road about the same time! Though my parents will be doing the first "leg". They are driving from Bremerton (Seattleish) to Anchorage. Then my finace and I will take over and go Anchorage to Prudoe Bay then down to Banff then home (Port Orchard...Seattle ish lol)

    Sounds like a good trip!

I wish I still lived in the Seattle area for the sole reason of spending way more time on the OP and up in Whistler. Easy drive and I let it go to spoil. Def learned a lesson before I moved to UT. Took advantage of the surrounding area right away!

When I was 6 years old, my family drove from Hamilton, ON Canada all the way La Union, El Salvador. Took us 7 days so in a 1990 TOYOTA PICK UP 22R, I remember that pick up clear as day, it was my first love for TOYOTA. :)

Work hard and plan ahead! Since I've been married (2 years in 20 days), my wife has really got me on track. Hoping to be semi-retired around 47 for me, 45 for her. I would have thought it next to impossible, and i'm an accountant, lol. But yeah, we are on track and still able to build out the truck!

    EDIT: I'm 34 this month.
