Not sure, once I get up on my mountain I have so much fun it's hard to leave. Up there we do whatever we want, law enforcement doesn't even come up there. A Morgan co sheriff told me "We don't go up there unless we have too. Nothing but guys shooting & racing around on atvs." Lol.

    Hey all,

Looking for a shop that is recommended for custom Tacoma work. Not looking for anything crazy, probably just a 2-3" lift between suspension and tires. But, a lot can go wrong with suspension lifts so I want someone with experience doing this, bonus point for shops that specialize in toyotas/overlanding.

    Thanks

Not sure, but i've looked into Wit's End Fabrication in Hanover before, they seem legit. I'm gonna be ordering my lift kit tonight or tomorrow and i'm gonna try to install it myself. I've never done suspension work before but i've been reassured by multiple people that its not THAT hard.

buy the extra parts and have a shop preassemble the front coilovers, it will save you a ton of time and headache over trying to dissasemble the stock ones.

I'm getting the OME kit pre-assembled from Headstrong. I don't want to worry about compressing any springs. What extra parts are you talking about and why would I have to disassemble to stock ones?

    A thing or two...
He's referring to the top hats. If you don't get the front shocks preassembled, you have to disassemble your stock ones and reuse the top hats or buy new top hats to assemble.

Gotcha. Thnx for the advice @Gaunt596. But yeah I didn't really even consider assembling them myself. I'm likely to freakin kill myself trying to compress a coil spring.

I have a spring compressor in my garage at home if you needed it.

Not that bad if you just shove a jack under the lca, loosen the top of the shock and SLOWLY lower the jack. Thats how we do it on every lift we've done when people dont buy preassembled or are just replacing the coils. But it is easier to just get pre-assembled sets.

Edit: it also allows you to leave the top hat in place and guide the new shock and coil into place and use the jack to slowly raise it until you can get the bushings and nut back on the top.

Thats pretty awesome! Thanks, but I don't mind paying a little extra to get them pre-assembled.

Actually, as long as you don't lift more than 3" it's pretty easy. Anything more than that and you need to go to an aftermarket UCA but even those are not that hard to replace.
I did my truck by myself and front and rear took me about 8 hours in total. That includes the UCA swap. I didn't need to do it but I got some Total Chaos UCAs for a really good price and couldn't pass them up.

I keep seeing this, but my truck isnt anywhere near heavy enough when I tried it. It compressed the coils about .5 and then started lifting the truck.

How are you lifting the rear?
