Getting close to my next transmission flush and I want to do right this time. What all things should I replace and what OEM numbers are they?

    Right now I am thinking
    • Transmission fluid filter
    • Transmission pan gasket

It is if you don't know what you're looking for. As in I don't know what all things should be replaced, if there's anything beyond just the filter and gasket. It's also sometimes difficult to tell what Toyota call something.

Like the main rear output shaft seal apparently it's just called oil seal which doesn't give any hint that it's for the transmission.

A lot of the online dealers have aweful parts diagrams. I like partsouq.com for looking up parts and will often order from them if I am ordering enough to have the shipping make sense (they’re in UAE). You can find your chassis number on your door plate.

The a750 trans filter is just a fine mesh screen, no need to replace it unless it’s damaged, you can just clean it with brake cleaner.

I would recommend new crush washers for the drain and overflow plugs, you could do the fill plug also but iirc it’s aluminum so more reusable than the steel crush style washers. Part #s below

Oh thanks man this helps a lot. I didn't think about washers! And see I was thinking to change the filter since it was flushed before but apparently there is a bit of comtamination now. I figured it must have come from the filter if it was dirty and not replaced. Although it could have come from the transmission radiator, I found out after the fact that the guy did not flush it in particular...

Change the filter if it's never been done before. Some believe that because it's a metal screen mesh it can't clog. While it's may be less likely to do that, all kinds of debris is nestled away inside the filter. The exposed part of the mesh is but a small part of it.

    2nd Gen - 4.0L - transmission pan gasket - part # 35168-60010
    2nd Gen - 4.0L - transmission filter(with gasket) - part # 35330-60050
ATF fluid - your choice - amt. depends on whether you are doing a pan drop or flush

I got mine from NAPA, but when I did there was a version for a pan with 20 bolts and a version for a pan with 19 bolts. Count the bolts on the tranny pan and make sure the gasket has the correct number of bolts. The filter is different for each version also. One filter is a little more square and one is a little more rectangular.

Taco World seems to like Valvoline Maxlife Synthetic ATF for the fluid. Better than WS.

Thanks man I think I'll go ahead and change it since it's not an arm and a leg.

Well I got all the parts, didn't have time for a while to do anything...then I got my 4runner and I've been focusing funds and time onto it...haha!

Eventually I'm going to get the fluid and stuff swapped in the truck after I get done when the the suspension for the 4runner
