Tried 0000 steel wool. No luck. They are very bad. Any ideas on how to remove them?

Duragloss Nu-glass works pretty well for surficial deposits. You could also just try a compound/polish. If the glass is etched, you're going to need a product containing cerium oxide like CarPro Ceriglsss. And even then, you have a monumental task ahead of you.

Here's how to remove hard water stains on windows

Clay bar the glass just like you were doing the same to your paint

Clean the glass using a microfiber towel and rubbing alcohol

    Finish with invisible glass cleaner

You can also use toothpaste and apply with a towel to the hard water stains or another is using a mix of vinegar and baking soda and add contents to a spray bottle then apply to the stains

I’d spray it on a paper towel or something, or put it in a spray bottle.

I don’t know how vinegar would affect the finish of the truck with overspray or whatever

Don’t drive in the rain, park in sprinklers, wash your truck, use wiper fluid, or drive through puddles.

    Don’t leave the garage

We have very hard well water at my house, so I always have to hand dry the whole truck with a microfiber. Last time I forgot to dry the windows and had some pretty bad water spots all over the glass. I used some Meguire's Ultimate Compound that I had in the garage and it worked pretty well. But it will require some serious elbow grease. Sounds like yours are pretty bad, good luck

I'd also add that after you get the water spots off, wax the windshield the same way you would wax your paint (out of direct sunlight and in appropriate temps). I'm surprised more people don't do this. The wax helps water bead off the glass and works better than rainx. It also prevents contaminates (high calcium water, bird droppings, road grime and other debris) from sticking to the glass the same way it would if unprotected. Most of these would wipe right off a waxed windshield as opposed to having to scrub. I do this every time I wash my truck and never had any issues.

The only product that I have found to work with stubborn waterspots on both paint and glass is a 3D product called Eraser. Just google 3D Eraser and the product should show up. I think that I bought mine from Amazon. I tried vinegar, some of the Meguier's products, and a few other ideas thrown my way. 3D Eraser was the only product that worked for me. Be sure to read the directions.

bar keepers friend works really good on glass. Then follow with a glass sealant to protect.
