I think I've about narrowed it down that I'm going to go with these. Now just gotta decide if I want to stick with my stock wheels and go for the 40lb 265/75-16's or put 44lb 265/70-17's on the SEMA wheels I got a couple weeks ago. The potential saved weight with the stockers is really making me want to go that route and just sell the other wheels.

Sounds like we’re both in the same boat posting in both threads lol. I talked to one of the guys at DT today after work for a bit. He was telling me that the WP would be a better ride. He had a set of 265/70/17 UT’s that someone had just returned b/c they were not happy with them. Also said the WP are some of the best tires they sell. That’s what he recommended I get. I don’t weigh their advice super heavily but it is something to consider I suppose.

The LT WP's dont have the silica compound and dont ride as soft. But, they also told me they have less problems with those. Not wearing as fast as silicas.

Believe my DT's were C rated, but will check paper work in glove box to be sure. They were fine and i believe cupping was my fault. Extra bumper and winch weight, without correct springs to support. I still liked them and dont really fault them.

The UT's are stiffer than the WP's for sure. But, i dont get the wandering and vibration i had with the WP's. Sure its just luck of the draw on them, but i just didnt have time to keep exchanging tires. Based off my exp with DT's i gave the UT's benefit of the doubt. Took some weight to balance but not as much as the WP's that never balanced.

My DT guy said the opposite about WP tires. They get many returns and are difficult to balance. I have KO2s and no problems other than the mileage reduction. Thinking about the UTs in SL if indeed the sidewalls are as tough as they say.

Looking for a new tire. How do these ride compared to the Duratracs? I currently have E rated Duratracs, that seem pretty rough on the road. Looking for something with a better ride for my long commute but will still do well in sand and forest roads. I do like the aggressive tread on the Duratracs and if these are smoother then this might be the best of both worlds (or as good as it can get).

3in rough country suspension lift. 285/70r17 GY UltraTerrains on 2016 4runner wheels. Also have 2005 DCSB tacoma prerunner. Currently stock, working on 4x4 conversion then will get lift and bigger tires.
The UT rides so much smoother than duratracs, my e rated ultraterrains are a softer, quieter and smoother ride than my old D rated duratracs, plus gained mpg with the UTs. I have not run them in sand but they did great in snow, gravel, mud and slick rocks when I took them on some trails and handle great on heavy rain as well.

    Can I get that PM also? Considering a larger wheel so...265 70 17 and 265 75 16. Thx

265/70R17 or 285/70R17 P or E load depending on how heavy they are.
    Thanks

    PM coming your way.

Do you have any more pics? If I go this way I'll have the same setup...are they setting flush with the fender or sticking out?

    Still happy with the tires?

This tire caught my eye, it looks like the tire that comes on the trd off roads with more aggressive side wall, but maybe less siping? Havn't read entire thread but is there a reason why this tire is not on the goodyear website?

Also 265/70/16 SL weighs 42 pounds https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-tires/goodyear-wrangler-ultraterrain-at/p/44194, 265/75/16 SL weighs 40 pounds according to discount tire directs website, is this accurate? https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-tires/goodyear-wrangler-ultraterrain-at/p/44188

Great, they held the road on the slippery stuff. They are wearing even as well. We will see how they last on summer roads.

I find the ride comparable to the Duratracs i had of a similar ply. Tad quieter, but ride seems about as stiff. My Duratracs were not E rated though. Tread pattern is tighter, so a little quieter for that reason. Hoping they wear more evenly because of this, as well.

So did you have C load Duratracs? Just asking because that could be a big factor.

Pretty sure. But honestly they're fine. You probably would be too. I'll check receipt in the morning

I have the E rated Duratracs, LT285/75R16. Bought the truck preowned with them on it. If I switch I will probably go with the 265/75R16 SL. I won't be doing any serious rock crawling or anything, mainly beach and the forest/dirt roads through some of the parks down here in Florida.
