If you contact AT, they would probably sell a fitment kit.

Flipped my brackets, and relocated bolt holes. Worked well and has solved the nagging issue with a really tight tent at the center bow.6BFDD650-91D5-4A7F-A150-59883FBBB745.jpg 1BBE1679-A9F7-46AC-BBCC-20C4849A9FDB.jpg

I need to look into this, mine are out of square and most that I have seen are also. my center pole dowles broke on me whlie camping 500miles aways and turned the trip to shit. I got replacements and no issues so far. but less stress on them would be nice piece of mind.

Do the bolts attaching the bracket to the Habitat thread into something on the other side of the aluminum, or just into the aluminum itself?

Mine has nutserts that the bolts thread into.

I broke a bow joint went my helpful friend tried to close up the hab on a non-flattened sleep platform. I remembered your story and took it to heart.

I now carry 6 chunks of sanded 1/2” oak dowels just in case it happens on the trail.

33 more days til install time. I've got 2 full days of driving to get there (~1500 miles). After its installed, we are spending the rest of the week traveling around out west (AZ/NM/CO) before finally coming back home. I've working on figuring out a few other bigger trips for this year and I'm hoping to get out most weekends. Definitely looking forward to it.

This all of course hinges on my new truck showing up in the next couple weeks. It's being built this week in Texas.

I did MN to MO, then across to AZ for install. Then to north rim Grand Canyon, up to Zion, across southern UT off-road, to Moab, up to grand junction, down to Denver, to Lebanon Kansas because I’m a nerd, then home.

2wks with me, wife, 2.5yo and a 5mo in the taco.

    I feel your pain!

I still think cutting the top and bottom off a beer can, and wrap the aluminum around and secure with zip ties and duct tape would get it home.

We drove from Seattle to Salt Lake City for install. Didn't get to do any camping or anything though. Picked it up day before my brother-in-law's wedding and headed straight home after.

    Where do you call home?

Eastern Iowa. This will be my 4th drive out to Arizona. Once for work. Once to pick up a camper and goto expo west. Another time to bring leaky pos camper back to manufacturer and get my money back.

On that last trip I stopped by AT to check out the shop and habitat in person. I ordered in December, but intentionally waited until now. Wasn’t much point in getting it until closer to spring when I can actually use it otherwise it would just be sitting in the snow being sad.

Not really sure yet where I’m heading yet once I’ve got it installed. Might head to north rim if it’s open by then. Otherwise I’ll probably go through New Mexico and maybe Colorado.

Mine broke at home, and had to buy the 4’ stick anyway, but that is a solid field expedient fix.

It seems the doweling is a designed failure point, and it worked in my case.

Just got back from another 8 day trip in the habitat, across all sorts of terrain, and in all sorts of weather. The way we (my girlfriend and I) like to travel we do not stay in the same spot for two nights. It was another great trip.

Only have one picture of the habitat deployed really.

Looks beefy! Is anything holding the spacer in place?
