Interesting, My HS auto shop teacher used to show these kind of clips to help explain the skinny tire concept, and the idea kinda stuck on me. Great vid!

When I bought my truck last year I was debating 255 or 285, and ultimately I went with 285/75/17 with my OME lift. Dude, I know 100% i made the right choice. She just sits right. From any angle but especially the front, you just see nice wide tires popping out a bit at the side on a good looking little Tacoma.

Go 285 you won't be disappointed. You'll be more disappointed if you go skinny tire and then wish they were wider.

What is the best size for a stock TRD Pro? I’d like to ditch the stockers for a better tire but don’t want to lose much power or throw the speedo off.

    Thanks

Keep the stock tire size. My speedo is off by ~3mph on 285/75. Dont notice and power loss though

I'm thinking of a similar lift/tire combo as yours on our 2014 Taco 4X2 Prerunner. Did you have to replace the ring and pinion gears as well due to the bigger tires? Thanks DC

It varies between winter and summer and what air pressure I run. Generally I run 32lbs of air, Winter time I get 16.5mpg, summer time I get between 17.5-19

Honestly nothing was wrong with them, I had for them for maybe 6k miles at most, I really liked the Falken AT3W they looked good, great price and were a lot lighter and better on gas.....thennnn i came across a deal on some Taco Pro wheels with 285’s mounted on them with only 5k miles for $1,200 so I couldn’t pass that up haha. My mpg could have def be better with the 265’s but I love the look of the 285’s :D

Did you just want the spacers for the look? Not judging, just asking.
