I haven't had mine replaced, but I have noticed that it's less noisy with Costco gas and noiser with Fred Meyer gas. Could all be in my head though.

How many miles do you have? Washington is covered under the California Emissions Control warranty rules, and the HPFP is covered for 7 years or 70,000 miles.

I just ordered a Coastal Offroad bumper kit that I need to weld together and I have a few questions. I have a MIG setup that I am currently running flux core wire in. Should I upgrade to gas shielding for better results on 3/16ths steel and do you guys think this is something im going to be able to glue together with decent technical knowledge but not much practice?

Looks like a pretty easy kit to do. Lots of tacking it together and then you can just stitch weld it and grind down. Long as you are comfortable in your welds (ie getting penetration) I'd say do it.

As for flux vs shielded.....up to you. If you dont weld much flux will work fine. Gas will leave cleaner welds but you are going to be grinding anyways for the bumper. But if you buy a bottle you'd also have 5+ years (depending on the hydro) to use up the gas.

Dont do enough to really justify the bottle and you make some good points about it not really being visible too.

In which case I'd just stick to flux core if thats what you are used to.

I only breifly looked at the kit over at ih8mud but looks like its just all the pieces precut so its more just an assembling it than having to do any sort of fabricating. Tack it every 6" or so then just do some stitch welding to keep the temps down and keep it from warping. Then grind everything smooth.

Should be that easy, especially since the HPFP is a specifically mentioned and covered part. I had to argue with BMW one time about it, but it was pretty clear when I highlighted the sections for them in the warranty booklet provided with the vehicle. Usually they'll start with "well, that's for CA". Then I show them the section that says the CA warranty covers WA too, since WA has adopted all CA emissions laws (which is total bullshit, talk about no representation in government).

I’m already considering the RR10 builders kit, this could be bad...

Do it. It’s a lot of fun. This is an entry level model called the deadbolt, it’s actually impressive what it’ll do

Has to be less expensive than planes. My dad was into RC plane(he crashed 60% of the time, 100% of the time) he amassed a lot of spare parts as a result.
