I dont need a super fast fill. Anything will be better then my leaking roto packs. Now I just need to keep Brett away from them so he doesn't bend the latch.

Yeah I do too much go fast stuff and had to move mine. That full size spare life gets tough above 33’s

Ya I couldn't get a good pic, the sun was fading fast.

Ya I am going to slightly modify the tire carrier. I am going to cut the one I have off and angle it a little to make hanging it better and weld in a couple more gussets onto the perch.

Is yours tied into the bed at all? If so I highly discourage it with this much weight. I started tearing my bedsides apart near the tail lights even with bed supports. But my design swung out and down. Worked good until I went full LT in the rear and tried hitting whoops at 60+ then shit started falling apart. Now I’m on version 2.5 of my tire carrier and want to change it again but done know how.

Ya see the whole problem is this “need” for a full size spare. Are you in a race? No. So why can’t a 25” doughnut that fits behind the rear seats work as a spare? It’ll get you off the trail of your a good enough driver right?

No my tire carrier is a swing out on my bumper. Ya I guess if you are a good driver you could do it, but you will end up blowing a diff or a tcase. When you run different size tires, the tires turn a different rates. Which in turn puts a lot of strain on the gears and wont hold up to that kind of abuse for too long.

Me personally I would never chance running a smaller spare though. Many of my long trips we are never near a town, so I would stranded until I got a tire.

Remember that one time when you were stranded because of a stupid billy 5100. That sucked! Could have been a lot worse though.

Thanks man, I have put a lot of work into this winter. I still need to regear and fine tune the fenders for the 35s, but so far I like them.

With all the snow this year and Brett and I both working on our trucks till the last minute, there was no time for a fire wood run.

As promised here is the trip report.

So @Squeaky Penguin and I left wensday morning to head for San Rafael Swell. We got to Grand Junction and stopped for some Chick-fil-a and got a call from @Reh5108 , who we were supposed to meet in Junction, saying his truck was dead on the side of I-70. So Squeaky and I had our lunch and then headed back east to go help him out. When we got to him, we ended up dropping the fuel tank to replace his fuel pump, which was actually never plugged in all the way to start with. So after 2 or so hours of pouring gas on us and fixing reh's truck we got back on track to get to the swell.

So with our hiccup on Wensday we didn't get into camp till late, so we didn't get to our planned camping area. We ended up camping near the interstate. Thursday we started our adventure into the swell. The best part of this part of the trip was the start of me getting to test the suspension and tires. At our first overlook we came to I ended up pulling out the hammer and beating on my truck instead of taking pictures. Haha

    20190328_121429.jpg
During this section of the trip we also visited the copper globe mine, because mines are cool. (Sorry no pics from me, too busy exploring)

    20190328_144832.jpg

    20190328_144856.jpg

So after we visited the mine we started our trek to our camping spot/meeting point for @Wishbone Runner . But along the way we ended up running into some pretty big snow drifts.

After all the snow we headed for Eagle canyon to avoid any pavement for the day. I wish I got a picture but this involved us going under the interstate to get there but the under pass was just big enough for me fit. I almost hit my mirror going in.

    20190328_164047.jpg

    20190328_164106.jpg

So Thursday night ended up sucking. We got to camp but it was windy as hell. Our attempt to have a fire and be out of the wind ended with us getting smoked out and cold. So we seeked shelter in squeaky's GFC. Wishbone found us closed up in the GFC drinking beer and playing cards. So so between Wensday and all day Thursday I was fighting by CB with great transmission but no speaker in the mic. It ended up with me attempting a poor soldering job Thursday morning and a full soldering job on all the wires. This seems to have fixed my problem.

    20190328_192724.jpg

Friday morning brought more cold and more wind, so we packed up and got moving to get out of the wind. Friday we hit Devils racetrack and fix it pass.

    20190329_151336.jpg

Friday night we ended up camping next to San Rafael river and it was actually a calm and little warmer night which was nice. Saturday we got up to what we thought was going to a night warm day but ended up slowly dropping in temperature. The plan for the day was to head back toward eagle canyon to go hike Devils canyon for some slot canyon fun and to just get a hike in. Instead of going through eagle canyon again we jumped on the interstate to get there faster. Reh ended running to green river to get gas since he was hobbling on a broken leg and wasn't getting great gas mileage with his new turbo, (he enjoyed the turbo too much).

    20190330_143655.jpg

    20190330_144145.jpg

The slot part of the canyon was short lived but still cool. After our hike we headed back up to one of the over looks we went to on wensday to camp.

    20190330_182729.jpg

    20190330_193350.jpg

Saturday night ended up being the coldest night of them all. I left the water bowl out for the dogs and it had a nice layer of ice on it in the morning. Sunday we ended up just sending it down some two track and heading back to the interstate to head home. The 35s on stock gears were not too forgiving to my gas mileage.

After much fast pass driving on two track and some nice flexing from wheeling, I have some more firewall bashing and cab mount chop 2.0 are in much need. I also found I will be in need of a revalve on my new rear shocks. I am in need a little more rebound and a touch more compression, but over all the truck feels awsome with what I have done to it.
