I put them on my 2nd gen, they still looked great after 2 years when I sold the truck. Highly recommended. Go with some seat heaters also while you are at it.

 

Did you have to take off the flares? I'm looking to rhino spray my fender flares but curious to know if they're reattachable once they're taken off because isn't there a line of adhesive that keeps the flare glued onto the fenders?

 

Looks great. Did you weld them yourself? Why did it take 7 hours? Genuinely curious as I’m considering getting a set of these and having a shop weld them on and I’m having a hard time imagining it taking that long.

 

I hope I don't get skewered but dang if I could've gone with a 4runner I would've in a heart beat. One of the best looking vehicles in my opinion, especially in cavalry and cement. But I needed a bed. Sigh. One day...

 

Stopped at a gas station to check why my tunes went to shit. Guy rolls up and says he can fix it for $30. Horror movies are full of crap. They fixed my stereo and gave me on-board air for $100 out the door!

What was your procedure for bronzing up the dash? Is that the only piece that you did? I’d like to pain all of the factory pieces that were gray white. I saw a picture on here and it looked really nice and clean.

Looks like you could drill mounts and put larger bolts through to attach it to the bed.

I had a CWI friend of mine weld them up for me, as I was taking no chances with my trucks frame.

I too thought it would take a lot less time (~3 hours tbh), but with taking our time to align it correctly, then prep each welded area right before welding, then the welding itself, then the cleaning of each weld to remove slag and splatter residue, then the actual welding to the frame, after again triple checking everything, I suppose it added up.

I used to blow and go on my old cars, but not anymore. Slow and easy was the way to go for me.

It can definitely be done faster, but we kept the welder within its duty cycle limits to get the most thorough welds possible, and checked everything numerous times. I felt it was necessary as sliders not only lift your truck, and slide over rocks, but can also be used as recovery points in tricky situations. My truck isn't sliding down a ravine because I rushed something like this.
