    BRANDON, Miss. —
A self-proclaimed YouTube celebrity was arrested after the Rankin County sheriff says he posted a live video of himself driving 180 mph across Spillway Road from Rankin County to Madison County.

Deputies arrested Beau Alan Rogel, 38, of Brandon, Monday.

Rogel was convicted in 2010 in Rankin County and sentenced to six years in prison on a felony embezzlement charge. The conviction prohibits him from possessing firearms, authorities said.

“Rogel’s criminal status has not stopped him from possessing weapons and advertising his possession of weapons and his disregard for the law on social media,” Undersheriff Raymond Duke said in a news release.

The live video and photos posted to social media led to a search warrant Monday for Rogel’s house and vehicle, Duke said. Rogel’s wife, Christina Ann Rogel, and children were there, but he was not, Duke said.

Christina Ann Rogel was arrested at the scene and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, authorities said.

“This was after she attempted to block deputies from executing the search warrant, lied about Rogel’s whereabouts in an attempt to help him avoid arrest,” Duke said. “While on scene executing the search warrant, Rogel drove up and was arrested without incident.”

Deputies also seized the 2017 Ford Mustang investigators said he was driving in the video in order to download data from the vehicle’s onboard computer, Duke said.

Two weapons were recovered from Rogel’s home, which led to charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in addition to the reckless driving charge, Duke said.

Beau Rogel and Christina Rogel both appeared in court Tuesday. A judge set bond at $20,000 for Beau Rogel and $2,000 bond for his wife. Christina Vogel was released after posting bond, but her husband remained in jail as of Tuesday afternoon.

That looks awful stock to be able to hit 180. Google says they're ECU top speed limited to 157. Even with speedometer error that's a tall order for a Stang o_O

A 2017 with a chip or flash to remove the speed limiter?

I still don't know about that.

A 2018 with the limiter removed I would have zero doubt that it is capable of 180.

The 2018+ cars are making ~420-430HP at the rear wheels stock (425 at the wheels is 500 at the crank considering a 15% drivetrain loss. Ford rates the engine at 460. They are sandbagging the numbers, probably to protect the GT350 image since it has the flat plane V8 and only a few more HP)

It looks stock, but we don’t know what’s under the hood, or how the suspension is modified.

Around here, HPD has a “stock” looking mustang that will do 180. Only a small group of officers are qualified to drive it.

My stock looking Tacoma will do 95... js

Lol I work for a very large insurance company & my small technical team was testing the "rate your driving" plug in OBD dongle many years ago. Everyone else I work with drives nicer luxury cars on toll roads but didn't want to push the speed limits. My truck still holds the department top speed award after my buddy borrowed it & hit the 116 mph limiter on a So Cal ohv trail. My coworkers presented me with a bogus certificate of achievement with the GPS speed reading & Google map with his route traced on it. That friend of mine never borrowed my truck again.

What are the Tacomas limited at? I feel like I've been above that. Off highway on a closed course, of course!

I’ve been tempted to push the 116 mark, but I’m not eager to do that on a lifted truck. To be honest, I haven’t even gone WOT with my 4.0l.

Currently, I’m running around in a rented Charger R/T and very curious how fast it will go. I’m just not willing to get a face to face meeting, with AzHP.

If it’s a rental, my experience, it is 104, they usually have governors on a lot of rental to prevent you from pushing the limits

Neighbor has (had) a nice newer camaro. Dark grey with black accents. Saw it on the flatbed last night being brought home. Hood flapping open in the wind and ot appeared to be a bit crunched. Kinda wanted to ask how fast, but that would be a dick move at the moment.

It's not your garden-variety Mustang. It's a GT350. 526 HP and 8250 RPM redline. I have one in my garage. They've been shown hitting 170 MPH, but 180 may be a stretch.

Because of course, fining and jailing retirees on a fixed income will help them afford to get their house painted...

Retired military couple scrambles to paint Ohio home to avoid more jail time

Anna Crawford and her husband, Bill, took advantage of the mild weather Wednesday afternoon to start scraping the peeling blue paint off the exterior of their Lancaster, Ohio home. Anna has picked out a light gray color to replace the exterior paint.

“The whole house will eventually be ‘Civil War gray,’” she said, “because that’s what this whole thing has felt like.”

In November, the Crawfords received a notice from the city that they needed to repaint their 100-year-old home. Since then, they said, it’s been “a total nightmare.”

Anna, 69, and Bill, 74, are both retired from the U.S. Navy and survive mainly off their military pensions. They’ve lived in their house on North Columbus Street for 35 years.

The exterior paint has been peeling for a while, and the couple knew it was an issue. But repainting the entire three-story house is a challenge for them, Bill said, and hiring someone would be expensive.

So when the Crawfords weren’t able to complete the project during the city’s 30-day time frame, they were charged with first-degree misdemeanors, which is punishable by as much as six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.

The couple appeared together Dec. 11 in Fairfield County Municipal Court for their arraignment. Because they went to court together the first time, they figured they would for their pretrial hearing, too. But Anna and Bill didn’t realize that, though they are co-defendants, they were assigned separate court dates moving forward.

On Feb. 12, a week after Anna’s assigned court date, Lancaster police arrested her for missing her court date. She had thought she was supposed to be in court later that month, which actually was her husband’s court date.

“The cop who arrested me said, ‘Gosh, I didn’t want to come get you,’” Anna said.

Anna spent one night in the Fairfield County jail. It’s an outcome that her attorney, James Linehan, said could have been avoided.

“Most people would think there are safeguards in place to make certain that a 69-year-old woman who is living on a military pension would not go to jail for failing to paint her house, but this case shows that those safeguards are insufficient,” Linehan said.

Lancaster’s code-enforcement department performed 5,200 total inspections last year, said Sean Fowler, the city’s code-enforcement director. That includes both initial and follow-up inspections.

Fowler said the majority of citations sent to residents come from complaints called into the department.

Linehan said criminalizing someone’s failure to do home maintenance is like “using a shotgun to kill a fly.”

Instead of a court date and jail time, Linehan said the city should offer services to people who are struggling to maintain their homes.

“If they can’t keep their house up, then there should be some social services available to help them,” Linehan said.

Fowler said the code-enforcement department doesn’t have a citywide program like that, but employees keep a list of churches and youth groups who have volunteered to help paint homes and mow lawns.

“We 100 percent want to work with people,” Fowler said. “We certainly try to be as reactive and comprehensive as we can be.”

The Crawfords said that all they want is for the issue to be resolved. They don’t understand why their house was cited when Anna said there are a number of other houses in the neighborhood that need fixing up, too.

Their next court dates are in early April, where they hope they can settle the issue. Until then, they’ll keep scraping off the old paint and working on their home.

“I know the house needs painted, there’s no disputing that,” Anna said. “It’s just a real disappointment how this has all been handled.”

ROGERS, Ark. (AP) -- Two Arkansas men have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after police say they shot each other while taking turns wearing a bulletproof vest.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that 50-year-old Charles Ferris and 36-year-old Christopher Hicks were arrested Monday.

A police affidavit says the two men are neighbors and were drinking on a deck Sunday when Ferris told Hicks to shoot him with a .22-caliber rifle while Ferris wore the vest. The affidavit says the shot left a red mark on Ferris' chest and that he was angry because it hurt.

The affidavit says Hicks then put on the vest and Ferris "unloaded the clip" into his back, causing bruises but no serious injuries.

Court records don't list an attorney who could speak on behalf of either man.
