No renting, brother owns the machine. That machine has been in my backyard for over a month I'd cry at that rental bill. The work was all done between my brother and me during our free time, it's going to be a slow ordeal with a shop since I plan on doing everything, but erecting the building. I started and my brother cleaned it up as far as dirt work goes, he's a fair amount better at it than me. The hardest part was cleaning all the dirt pulling sticks and stumps out, I don't need any hollow spots in the years to come when it rots.

If you need some work and are within driving distance I can get you someone's number. He will not rent the machine out, but he will run the machine for you.

Bro, I went for a run at 2 am last week and while I wouldn’t want to make a habit of it, I loved it. The whole world felt empty.

My thoughts....buy a welder and same money because I can build my own stuff.

Reality....buy a welder and spend more money on welding tools than I would save because building stuff is fun.

lol that's literally my thoughts...I'd buy one and it would become another money sucking hobby because I wouldn't want to build crap for everyone else to actually make any money I'd just be "weld this weld that weld EVERYTHING" all the time and spend too much money!

I’ll easily make the money back that I spent on everything, and I don’t think it’ll take very long to do so. I really don’t have that much invested at this point and just about have the capability to build anything once I buy a tube bender.

I just have to get to the point that I feel confident that my welds will hold up to abuse. That’s why I’m going to be using Chris as my test subject, if he can’t break my welds I’ll put money in the fact that nobody else will.

lol that's what I'm saying though, I personally wouldn't make my money back.

I'd like to pick up welding when I'm more financially stable and beyond certain steps in life.

When you get to the point, just remember it’s an investment. Having a welder do work for you costs so much damn money because of the time spent to learn to properly weld. Having the ability to do so for yourself and others is bigger than the money you spent on a machine. Especially in this hobby.

A lot of us have hit a point with out trucks that we either have to fork out money for a fabricator or do the work ourselves.

I always open for learning. Welding the CMC plates doesn’t worry me at this point since it doesn’t provide any structural support.

that's why I just abuse @Jerneyman for my welding needs. I don't need the guy making a living and paying for oodles of equipment, just the guy that can do a good job for me and make some money for himself.

I am a big believer in but once cry once, so any “beginner” welder I buy would be will be somewhat will last.

Hobart is a good “beginner” line of welders that will last for years to come. They start at about $300 and go to $600 ish for the 110v welders that would make good starter machines.

You will be glad you invested, There is no way I could have had someone weld everything that has been welded on my Samurai, the cost would have been crazy.

I am definitely glad I did.

It means that my first project is not limited to an 85 pickup. I’ll just SAS an 86+ if I find one with a strong 22RE

dang, a guy at work just gave me the stuff I needed to finish out the ethernet drops at my house.

8 port switch, all the dual plates for coax/network hookups, and all the connectors I need.
