Just received notice my 6 month or 5K checkup is due. Anything I should tell them? I believe the truck is running fine, other then the doors are not latching the way they should. You really need to slam them closed. So hoping they can make adjustment. There is 800 miles on the truck.

Not really it's a tire rotation and top off the fluids thing .

I didn't take mine in for 6 month check up, it only had 2100 on it. Waited till one year (4700) They changed oil and inspection then. Figured 6 month was useless with that low of miles and no problems.

Mine is due for the 6 month inspection next month. The current miles are 700 and change. I'm still going to take it in because i'm old school about breaking engines in and changing the oil early.

Anything you tell them, they will just say it is normal and they all do that. Seriously, I had my first 6 month service this past Monday and I brought up two small issues that I knew how to fix but wanted them to annotate anyway. One was the shift knob being a bit loose and the other was the bed alignment. The service writer said the shift knob was normal and they all do that, there is nothing they can do, and for the bed/bumper alignment they said I would have to bring it back for the body shop to look at and it would take all day.
After I got the truck back I fixed the shift knob in less than a minute in the parking lot, and at home in about 30 minutes I had the bed alignment fixed.

They dont do oil change at the first service normally. Some dealers will do it if you request it, but the majority will say they can't do it unless you pay for it because Toyotacare will not cover it early.

So I'm not crazy. I also have to give an extra push to close the doors. I realized this a week after I got my truck. I still wouldnt want to take it to the dealer just so they can say I'm closing the door wrong.

I've had mine since December 21st and have 4100 miles. It's scheduled service/checkup was 3/9 but I am waiting to hit 5000. I am getting new tires this weekend so I will just change the oil myself then so I can keep my usual routine of changing oil and rotating tires.

So I am getting mixed feelings on this thread. Is it worth it to take it in for them to "check on it" or is a normal person perfectly capable of checking?

Thanks for the advice and tips. Now I do not feel alone by not putting lots of miles on the truck. I guess if I sold the 2003 Caviler I would use the truck more often. That car has 160,000 miles on it and does not leak or burn oil. Opens up to 80-85 mph no problem. My wife yells at me and says, you are going 85 mph in this shit of a car. I take turns with the autos.,but I am a homebody. Usually just go out to make my VA appointments. But I will make my appointment, maybe they can do something on the doors. You really need a good slam to close them

Open hood, close hood, put a few greasy fingerprints on your steering wheel and done. If you really get unlucky, a grease mark on your fabric seats. Not worth your time.

The dealership can suck it. At this point I’m only going there for a recall, that’s it.

My last visit I tried telling them about the TSB for the MT and they were clueless. And didn’t even rotate my tires when I asked them to.

The only good thing is, they gave me a reduced rate on my annual inspection because they think I bought the truck from them.

It’s a complete waste every time I go there.

My dealer said it wasn't time dependent, but maybe they were mistaken. I guess I'll do the first one myself
