Thanks for sharing. That's exactly how I've got a table setup that I intend to try out this weekend. I'm thinking about having a less aggressive 1st gear throttle table, and using my "enhanced" strategy in each of the other gears (with the exception of reverse).

So you're able to manipulate the throttle input with the MPVI2 and eliminate the need for a pedal commander or sprint booster?

Of the calibrations I have (listed in quote) they share identical throttle mapping across all years and through each gear.

Yes sir! I can have the ECU open the throttle any amount (from 0-100%) for any given pedal position. Using the 16 cells available, I can create a "curve" or just go straight linear, or any combination in-between. It's up to the end user what kind of throttle response they'd like and when they'd like it as we can have different throttle response curves for each gear to include reverse.

I don't think I've heard anyone dis'ing OV, but maybe I missed something. I do know that I've been watching and waiting for the "canned" tunes on a handheld for a NA 4.0, with some data to back them up, for over a year and a half. Quietly waiting btw as I know the market is now a declining one and the NA market may even be tougher one to get anything sellable. I'm still not quite ready to pull the trigger on the HP either as I don't feel comfortable with my skill level to start mucking with the tune. That's where I saw the OV value for me, canned tunes on a handheld device. You know something "stupid-user" proof :D

This is a throttle map from my brothers Saab 97-x with the 5.3L. It’s so bad from the factory

You really have to stab the throttle in that thing!

I have the sprint booster. I think it shortens the pedal arc as a whole for the top end. It definitely makes a huge difference for responsiveness in the beginning and middle of the pedal engagement but I’d say the last 25 percent of the pedal therefore has no effect

Over 33% pedal position at 6% throttle opening! Wow! I know every engine is different but it really makes you wonder how the OEM driveability engineering team came up with those values?

    Too few to list.
I had a scary experience trying to back up and move out of the way and the truck is taking it's leisurely time.

I think the UCON has a command to turn off CAN communication. I don't know if that means it goes into standby mode or still functions without CAN communication.

If I just have the ignition on/engine off and turn off the UCON communication couldn't I read my ecu and get a copy of my tune? Actually I believe @JustDSM said I wont even get my actual tune out of my ecu, but an identical tune that is provided by HPT.

Is there any possibility of me jacking something up just from reading the ecu? I want to poke around and familiarize myself with everything in the software.

Play it safe and just plug the main harness back into the ECU instead of running it through the UCON.

But I am confident you’ll be ok running it through the UCON for downloads ONLY.

If there’s an issue is going to fail on the download which is much less of an issue than on the upload.

Some of that may be for when the EPA did MPG tests. Less likely to guzzle fuel if you have to stab it so far to get to WOT. Just spitballing.

I doubt you’d mess anything up on a read, though I’ve seen posts on the Hp Tuner forum where people have said they bricked an ECU just reading. I don’t see how it’s possible, but I’m not taking any chances.

I’m going to take out as many variables from the equation as possible. Removing UCON, disconnecting the Maestro and hooking up a battery maintainer.

I know this is completely unrelated, but i figured id let you know.. i recently reset my immobilizer with the UCon hooked up still. Worked like a champ. Figured i'd let you know in case you ever found yourself needing to reset it and didnt want to pull the UCon

I was surprised myself that it worked
