Question - has anyone received a free loaner vehicle when you drop your truck off for a recall?

Taking in for master cylinder recall and they want to charge for a rental....I called BS on that (and it’s not the $40 plus gas they want) as it’s a Toyota’s deal.

But it’s only an hour long fix... even most extended warranty plans require a 4 hour or more repair before rentals are authorized.

I see. They quoted me 3-4 hours on the repair though. But this would make sense. Thanks.

Yea, that one takes an hour or less. The newest one (K0B) for the PCS sensor will take about 1.5 hours. If you need to get somewhere while they have your truck most dealers offer a courtesy ride. I have only been offered a rental if they will have the vehicle overnight.

No, you DO NOT want a Rental. But what you do want is to Test drive "That car over there", as you are very interested in it. i.e. "That car over there" is anyone you point to on the lot. :D

I was quoted half a day for the pcs recall and told it would be an inspection.

I just talked to the service manager yesterday about this. He said the guy just did the first one on a Tundra and it took 1.5 hrs.
It is inspection and put sealant and reflash the computer unless your truck has displayed signs of problems, then I think they look at replacing the sensor. Thats the info I got from my local dealer.
Now the master cylinder which is what OP is going in for is 1 hour or less.

Here in Guam anytime they are doing maintenance on your vehicle they have $25 rentals for the day.

But yea that should only be a 1.5hr deal.

Cool. I’m in Southern CA (the place where EVERYTHING takes longer) but probably will just wait it out (and hope for the best)...

Maybe I’ll walk over to the Ford dealer nearby and test drive the Ranger

You won't like it. I checked them out on my last service visit. Didn't test drive it, but I didnt want to drive it after seeing it.
