I think I’ll go ahead and get another set of Daystar greasable ones for the back like you guys did . My luck I’ll have to cut off the back ones then I’d be up shits creek.

What u bolts did you go with?

Thanks again @BartMaster1234 and @eon blue.

Mine were too long, I don’t recall what the length was.

Order from Wheeler’s and make sure you tell them the leaves you are using otherwise you’ll get the wrong bushings.

This is the kit I used, I got 2 kits and used one for the front eyes and one kit for the rear eyes. edit: just saw you were asking about U bolts, I have the OME U bolts that I got through Headstrong back when I had Dakars, they're the right length.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestion. Glad he mentioned U bolts. It didn’t occur to me that I’d need longer ones.

yeah you don't want your rear axle falling off lol. Stock ones will be way too short for a thicker leaf pack.

I would never run chains on the front of our IFS trucks, if you were to slip on I think it’d really screw shit up.

I have a set of chains in my truck year round, mostly cause they don’t bother me in the tool box.

I've had then come off in the front and didn't hurt anything, but yea they could. Could even tear brake lines on the rear if you wrapped them around the axe hard enough. Saying that, I haven't had them come off in years. The key is getting them on tight, and pay attention when you're driving. If anything sounds, or feels weird, stop and check it out. Most guys on this forum couldn't run chains on the front anyway because if you are running anything bigger than 31's they won't clear. With the rear dif lock you get the most benefit from the rear ones anyway.

I’ve had em slip off cause I didn’t have any bungies to get them really tight.

You’re right about the rear diff lock thing though, hard to beat being locked in the rear with chains on.

I don't use the bungees anymore. Had too many problems with them, they brake easy in cold weather. I really like chains with cam tighteners. They are super easy to get real tight, like can't wedge a credit card between them and the tire tight.

I didn’t know those existed until I stopped and helped a trucker guy chain up this winter, thought they were pretty neat

The toytec ubolts are pretty long. I had to cut mine down a bit, whereas the ome u bolts I have now were the perfect size for an oem spring pack+AAL+Axle shim.

For all of you buying the bearings and pressing them in, as a heads up for next time if your in a pinch, any city that has an industrial district will have an industrial parts house somewhere nearby. All I had to do was bring in a part number for the tensioner pulley bearing and they had one for my dads second gen. So if you ever need one quick, thats one way to get one. And theyll likely have several brands to pick from. NSK, FAG, Nachi, SKF, timken etc..

Here's what I did to my Taco today...

    20190403_130634.jpg

    20190403_142424.jpg

First half of the day was welding in the white piece in the upper left, the fender, where your left foot rests from inside. Gotta do some filler then paint and undercoat on the outer surface. Then I cut and shaped the other hole in my floor and have a piece shaped now to weld that in.

Then some other day after the floor its off to replacing the tank. Then the rear struts and HOPEFULLY some used leaf springs if anyone would like to sell me some?

Two years ago I was struggling with my clutch petal not coming back up. I started by throwing parts at it. When that didn't work, I started searching the internet. That's when I found TacomaWorld, and a six dollar fix! One of the parts I threw at it was the clutch master cylinder. It was a cheep Dorman part. Well, yesterday my clutch started feeling weird and squeaking when I pushed it. That cheep Dorman master cylinder was kaput. The part that connects to the clutch petal was broken and it was leaking fluid around the shaft. It didn't cost a lot, but since I didn't even get two years out of it, it wasn't a bargain.
    IMG_3387.jpg

I had saved my original one, so today I put it back on.

That was pretty easy, so I decided to do the washer fluid reservoir relocation mod as well. I had purchased the new reservoir a few months ago and had never gotten around to putting it in.
    IMG_3390.jpg

That wasn't too hard either. Anyone want my old reservoir? Make me an offer. Other than being durty, it's still in pretty good shape. I would include the black fender well cover part with it.

I had a set that were gathering dust in my garage for over a year. Gave them to a guy a couple of months ago, to make knives out of. Sorry, it's all in the timing.:(

Finally finished the tire/wheel project. Moved from 265/75/16s to 255/85/16s after installing SPC UCAs. Adios KO2s, welcome ST/Maxxs.

Had it all aligned this morning. Since I removed the flares actually am not rubbing on the frame or liner at lock. However, the gap is so slight that any compression will cause some rubbing. Time for the hammer (already expected this) and heat gun for the liner.

The backspace on these 4Runner wheels is so little (4.625 vs. 4.5 stock) that its definitely not something to worry about.

Very satisfied with the ride. Really smooth so far, have a feeling I'm going to like these much more than the KO2s.

I measured them today, only 1/4” difference in thickness from stock. Stock is 1 5/8” AP is 1 7/8” thick. Part of me thinks I could squeeze by but I’m going to just get the 1/2” longer just to be safe.

Has anyone had any dealings with StreeTacos lately? I placed and paid for an order on Feb27 and haven’t heard from him since. I’ve called, emailed and sent messages through his site. Getting the feeling I’ve been taken.
