Morimoto LED XB Headlight review

Are you sure they can be kept on for extended periods of time? Is the amber ran at 100% output or more?

 

Really like the style of these headlights, might have to upgrade when they are available haha.

I have the Depo Headlights from Unique Style, with a conversion adapter for the LED DRL's. When I use the turn signal, it cuts out the DRL LEDS, uses the LED strip for turn signal. Might want to check their adapter to get my SR5 to do that. If, it's the same thing you are talking about.

 

No color flicker

 

That's the only bad part out of this headlights in my honest opinion. What happens when a light goes out? They look AMAZING but unreliable if something ought to happen with the low bean etc. Regardless if they quote having a lifespan of 5 years, its not a guarantee. Plus, you need to shipped them for repair while you are stock without a headlight. I wish they have the same setup but with the option of switching to bulbs to prevent any headaches down the road.

 

this. 5 year warranty is not alot, then add in difficulty of repair and price.

They look fantastic . Once I know there in stock I’ll place a order for sure .

 

@mesojdm just curious, are these test units yours to keep? If so are you planning on attempting to mod them somehow? I'd be interested in seeing any iterations you would have for a sealed unit like this.

 

Yes they are mine. Part of the deal is I cannot modify them until production units start shipping. But once that happens, it's game on and I have a few ideas that I want to execute

 

Yes the amber can be run constant. Already checked.

Well I spec'd out some retrofits and they were in the same price range. I have had the Morimoto XB Fog Lights for several years now and they have a ten year warranty. If these utilize the same LED chips then I would be confident that they would last quite a while if not the life of the vehicle. Time will always tell though.

 

i don't mind the 1200 price tag. over 5 years that equals 20/mo.

i spend more on mustard every month.

So these DRL's don't dim like on the OEM white DRL's right? @mesojdm, on the OEM what happens when you send power to both the regular and dimmed wires on the OEM lights? Does one override the other, or will it fry the LED board?
