A little bit of this, a little bit of that...
My 2006 OEM lasted 4 years. Been using Duralast since and they have lasted between 2 - 3 years.

From my understanding battery life also depends on how many time you start your vehicle and how far you drive. Short trips -20 miles are not enough to replace what was lost during the initial startup and so forth.

Disclaimer: Not sure I know what I'm talking about, just something I read online written by somebody else that probably doesn't know what their talkin about either.

My experience with most new car batteries is that on average they last 3 to 4 years. My experience is based on various brands of cars/trucks. I now just replace the battery on a new car at 3 years. On my vehicles otherwise that the battery is 5 years old I replace it at 5 years. It’s actually cheap to replace batteries at 5 years. I use Walmart or Costco batteries. They all have lasted more than 5 years. I just replaced my truck 27 series battery. $90 out the door at Costco. Works out to be $18 a year to use the battery. 5 years later get a new one. Doing that I don’t have to worry about the batteries crapping out at a bad time or place. $18 a year is damn cheap.

I’ve come to learn NOT to expect much from Toyota replaceable components... not really a high end machine.

I'll share my experiences, though neither is quite comparable to our Tacoma batteries.

My 2001 Dodge Cummins, the OEM batteries (yes, there are two in diesel trucks) lasted literally 11 years. And that included the last 5 of those years with the truck sitting 95% of the time, only got driven maybe once every 2 - 3 months.

My 2004 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 OEM battery lasted 10 years. And that was with being ridden to work as my regular daily commute vehicle for the first 6 years.

Both of these vehicles were purchased brand new, by me, so I knew their entire histories while I owned them.

With all my Toyotas I've never had a battery last over 24 months OE. Been stranded every dam time as soon as weather changes and it gets cold, usually at the 20-24 month mark. I swap to AGM aftermarkets now since it just keeps happening to me

My Audi is going after 5 years. No offroading prob attributes to this lol

Your new battery could just as easily fail. Waste of money....

My fil is a ford man. His 1996 F250 battery lived 18 years. I wouldn't believe this story either except he asked me to come over and try to charge it and when I saw it was the original battery I damn near shit myself. I'm lucky to get 4-5 years out of a OEM battery.

Sorry for posting the f word.

What are you guys doing (or not doing) to your batteries?! Mine is lasting over 30k miles and I live in the desert.

My 1st gen OEM battery lasted over 5 years as well.

Also depends on how much you drive. If you have a 10 minute drive to work, Your battery wont last long.

I'm at 37 k miles, no issues original battery.
