sounds cool, theres definitely a lack of bbq/whiskey channels. all of them, besides horst, can be kinda 1 dimensional.

I'll post it up when we do it. I'm really trying to help him out. He's super knowledgeable about whiskey (ESPECIALLY scotch), has tons of connections at all levels of the supply chain, and has a jaw-dropping collection of whiskey. He is incredibly generous with it all as well. His setup for the YouTube channel is very raw at the moment. Him and the two folks that do it with him just need to get a little more comfortable in front of the camera, nail down a rhythm, and up their production quality.

He'll get there, no doubt. Smart guy with plenty of ambition.

 

I thought the liquor laws in Ohio only allow stuff that is on a pre-approved list, that everyone has, at a set price?

 

The Pappy van Winkle was hot stuff a few years ago, now we don't hear too much about it in these parts. Overpriced IMO.

For everyday drinking I alternate between Knob Creek, Woodford Reserve, 1792 and Four Roses small batch, whichever I can get the best price for. I will get Maker's Mark or Jim Beam Black on occasion as well.

I also like rye especially for cocktails. Templeton Rye is great for both sipping and cocktails. Dickel Rye is a great bargain--very smooth with the charcoal filtering, yet has that rye spice to it. I also like Knob Creek rye.

It's been said before that bourbons are among the best bang for the buck of any spirit. I generally sip with some chilled whiskey rocks, but if over 50 proof I will add a cube or 2 of ice.

I do like Scotch, and fortunately we have a local place that has over 200 to try. I tend to stick with MacCallan 12 year, though like the Glenmorangie varieties and occasionally for a more peaty experience Laphroiag.
