Would you be able to do a Solo UCA gusset? I have all the parts and it’s pretty straight forward I think

 

Haven't taken it offroad yet except for a little power line right off way but it seems well behaved on the road.

 

I should be able to. The hardest part is getting the metal bare on the truck because it’s such tight quarters. We could give it a shot though. You’re talking about making the uca a double sheer mount, right? Like the TC one?

Yea, why I posted it. I figured if you could trade straight up then take it to the place @Jim=2015 TRD PRO took his to and had it color matched for $400 it might even itself out.

I can tell you this though, I am getting prices for a new cap (Leer 180 Long Bed) with no option for $1,699. So if your tonneau value is high, and the used cap cost is high, and then add the paint, it might just be better to go new.

 

Is that BYOB?

 

Would make the Pro shift knob reasonably priced. Wonder if it's legit?

You should buy a can of the Bed Liner spray from Home Depot Harbor Freight if you are thinking black. It sprays very evenly. It has a real nice sheen with a even texture. Or if you wanted to be 100% sure you will like the black, use plastidip. If you hate it, take it off and have it color matched.

I thought I would be ok with a cheap find and paint it black myself with bedliner paint. The I saw examples online.




I decided HELL NO! Even with the black flares I am not a fan of this color combo. It might be the style cap or whatever but I know now mine will have to be color matched.

If it were me, I'd get it color matched. It would drive me nuts to have a different color cap. Even if its black

I think my Revolver X2 + Cash is the way to go. Otherwise I will need to sell my Revolver X2 and who knows what I'll get for it. I was thinking of black plastidip at first. I like how it has a little bit of texture to it. Plus, if I don't like it I peel it off and go get it color matched. @Jim=2015 TRD PRO can you give me the details on who you had color match your cap? Thanks.

 

Exactly why I tagged you immediately in the post. I know this is what I would do too. But as a reference, I am not selling my tonneau for less than $650. A) there's nothing wrong with it B) The long bed version is nearly $1k now. Even if you can get 15 - 20 % off it's still a $150 savings. I've had a couple bites too when I threw the idea up on the cap trade thread. A couple of guys with long beds asked immediately when I thought I might be taking it off.

Hell, I might just sell it first so I have the cash to put down on a cap.

I just keep hoping though something will turn up in that Craigslist hread for under $1k
