I ordered a new set of speakers and tweeters last night along with a small amp to power them. I already have an aftermarket headunit so this will complete my audio upgrade. I bought a 2 channel amp and now I'm wondering if I needed a 4 channel. How do I wire the speakers and tweeters to the amp? Heres a pic of the connections on the amp. Can somebody tell me how to wire this?

You will need some type of crossovers. Run speaker wires from your amp to the crossover, from the crossover run wire to the tweeters from the high pass, wires from the crossover low/mid pass to the other speakers, hope this helps.

The speaker description says they have built in crossovers. I'm guessing i need a crossover to separate the signal? I should've known i didn't buy everything i needed

You will prolly have every thing you need. I'm guessing that you'll run wire from the amp to the main speakers, and there will be some sort of connection on the speaker to run wire from there to your tweeters.

As long as the tweeter have a crossover on it you would simply wire it to the main speaker. And the main speaker would be wired to the amp.

If your speakers are actually the Orion CO570's as in the pic, then they are a coaxial speaker (woofer and tweeter in the same speaker), not components, like some of the responses think that they are.

A coaxial speaker only needs one speaker lead from the amp to the speaker.

I thought they had a woofer and tweeter on them but I bought new tweeters to put in the top of the doors too. can i still use those? and if i can how do i wire them. i'm looking at external crossovers on ebay but have no clue what to get. the tweeters say they have built in crossovers too. heres a link.

Ahh, now I see. Yes, you'll need either a crossover,,, or you could wire the coaxes and the tweeters in series (to ensure that you don't go below the rated ohms of the amp), and then attach a set of bass blockers to the tweeters.

If it were me, I'd be using a crossover.

You might also try cancelling the order and look into a set of real components as those will come with the crossovers. Cost-wise you may be getting close to that.

Note that running a set of coaxes and tweeters may give the sound a bit too much brightness (highes) for you as you've essentially doubled up on the high sound producers.

Another option would be to just use the coaxes alone and see if that gives you the sound you want without getting into the complexities of wiring up a set of tweeters and crossovers.

yes. the power acoustics are the tweeters. I think i might just try the speakers by themselves and see how it sounds. If I'm not happy I'll try to find some crossovers

I would send the tweeters back. You don't need them if you bought coaxials.

just try the coax first. they should be plenty. if not then hook up the tweets and see how you like them. you could probably run the tweeters off of the leads coming out of the head unit

I'm gonna call customer service and have them take the tweeters off of the order. do you think having the tweeters in the bottom of the door instead of the stock location will be noticeable?

You don't need the tweeters. But if you really do want them, you could get a bass blocker and run them off your head unit, with the orions off the amp. Running both the tweeters and the speakers on the same channel will bump the speakers down to 2 ohm, which will fry your amp.

It's really much more of a hassle than it is worth.

yeah i might do that. would i just unplug the connector for the stock speaker and leave them in the door when i put in the new ones and run the new wires from the amp? i might just splice in the tweeters since customer service says they're already packaged and on a pallet to be shipped.

Seriously, you don't need the tweeters. All adding them will do is unbalance the frequency response of the channel they are hooked to. If you want separate component sound then do it right design a system properly.
