I'll put my 10x12 blend wall tent (relite walls) by Montana Canvas up against any RTT rain or shine. I have the alum free standing frame and a stove jack installed in the tent. Cabin style comfort that goes up quickly by one person.

    https://montanacanvas.com/product/montana-blend-wall-tent/

If it's cold I can burn wood in my wood stove or fire up my Mr. Buddy heater. If it's warm I can open up the door flaps and rear window for cool mtn breezes.

Strong winds? I simply tie it down to anchor points.

Bears? That's what 44mags are for.

For sleep, we break out the cots with mattress pads.

There's a reason hunting outfitters use wall tents. The NPS uses them too.

Doesn't problem solve. Doesn't pack trash out. Doesn't check weather and plan accordingly. Doesn't pay entrance fee. Plays loud music while out in the wilderness. Doesn't respect wildlife. Doesn't respect plant life. Doesn't walk off trail to go to the bathroom then doesn't bury it. Doesn't put out fire properly... the list goes on and on.

That one looks like the m101 Canadian. Hard to find but excellent off road trailer that already has a tailgate.

Runs generator all night to power radio/tv/whatever that isn't needed when camping and leaving behind is kind of why one goes camping. Lets dogs run around crapping everywhere. Burns shit in the fire pit not meant to be burned leaving a mess for the next person. Leaves cigarette butts all around. Drives their fucking OHVs all over the place. Decides they need to cut down a couple trees and buck a cord of wood. Oh, and uses a RTT :)

    A few.
It’s a 1967 M416. I wish it had a tailgate, that’s been one of the challenges with the build. That and figuring out how to build a telescopic rack for the RTT. I want to be able to drop the rack and lower the center of gravity while towing it down the trail.

This is very true. Just make an effort to go out there and support our parks, keep them clean and leave them better than you found them and you're good to go in my book.

The fact youre asking probably means I can’t answer that for you. Not being a dick, but the ethics of it wasn’t something I took seriously when I first started camping. But it’s important. My only point with the tents is it’s gotten a lot more people out in the wild, which is great. We all have terrific trucks that can get us there, which is also great. But the number of people who get out there and don’t really care about the small things that make the big things with camping is really unfortunate. The problem I have with the tents when I first posted is mostly directed at these people who aren’t taking that understanding seriously.

    99% of the time

This is what I've found over the years as well. I won't go so far as to say all people with RTT's are those types, because I know they aren't. But dammit if the majority of offenders didn't all seem to share some things in common, including the RTT mounted on a 3rd gen Tacoma or Runner. They all seem to dress a certain way, too! :notsure:

I started camping with a $15 nylon puptent and an old flannel bag. 25 years later I'm running a popup trailer with a water heater and cold a/c. Lots of different setups in between, each completely changed the experience of camping.

If there's one thing I learned is that there isn't a style out there that doesnt have a compromise to it. Surprisingly the style I hated the most was my 6 person ground tent with cot. It was comfy, room to stand up, but camp took 2 hours to pitch including kitchen. I found i was less motivated to go unless it was at least a three day trip. I loved hammock camping, but only found it fun for specific areas and weather. The RTT either compromised the truck for daily/not-camping use or it was a pain to constantly mount to the bars. The trailer is a compromise too, it takes up half of my garage, it takes 30 minutes to level, unhitch, unfold, and make the bed. It needs constant maintenance. But it's been my most versatile and favorite setup so far.

I can't hate on the RTT guys. But it ain't for me.
