Well, finally decided on what I wanted and picked it up today. Battling the pricing was a bit of a pain, but what can you do.

ewwww! I don't like that toyota made the bumper and the front grille the same color as the truck! anyone think same way? silver tacoma look better with chrome colored bumper and front grille which only come with off-road pkg apparently.
BTW you should have tried other dealer like I did. My access cab was a whopping $30,700 on the MSRP because of all the options! and the dealer gave me like 4200 off.:D

Chrome rear bumper and grille surround comes with SR5, too. Most people, like myself, like the body color stuff better. I personally hate chrome and will be removing as much of it as I can shortly. If only I had thought about that when my bumper was replaced...

yeah i forgot about the SR5 pkg. didn't know that pkg existed. Then again I'm new to toyota so forgive my ignorance. I was a ford guy a week ago.

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Chrome or not doesn't really matter to me much. It's going to be a work truck/daily driver for me. Will be seeing probably 20K+ miles a year.

I had a smoking deal from the GM last week on a long bed...but I couldn't pull the trigger without doing ANY kind of research. Kind of glad I didn't because in hindsight, the long bed would have been too much for my application- parking in the city and things of that nature.

I did go to a couple other dealers too. I can see why toyota stock is dropping, they think these trucks are gold and don't move on the price any. Luckily this dealer gave me, what I would consider, a good deal. Since my trade wasn't worth much I pretty much financed the whole thing so the 2.9% option came in handy over the rebate.

First mods will be a Cap of sorts, thinking a LEER because it fits my price range better.

Then in the near future I want to do bigger tires/small lift and a Bull Bar w/lites

It's all in my head at the moment...
Toyota stocks are dropping? In this economy? Where everything in the free world is dropping too? Even the gas you're putting in your truck? Hmmmm....weird! I don't see Toyota and Nissan chatting up the possibility of becoming one. Your deal has nothing to do with dealers not negotiating, If you didn't buy it, someone else would of. My '08 Double Cab Prerunner had a sticker/MSRP of $27,800....drove off at $21,600 after all the wheeling, dealing and research. It can be done.

Welcome to the Chromeless Bumper Club. NoCars will gladly take over the payments for you by the sounds of it. That way YOU can have your truck the way HE wants it. Geeeesh!

By the photo and I'm assuming that is your driveway, It doesn't look like it'll fit in the garage to begin with. Just a heads up with taller tires and a cap, It ain't never gonna fit then.

Have fun and keep it fun.

heh, yea, i noticed that from the picture as well. I was hoping it was just an illusion :( I need to clean that side out today.

according to cars.com, the truck is supposed to be a little under 6' tall. shouldn't be a problem if thats true. I Think the top is 7' or so.

well i have 5" of clearance with a full tank of gas. 3" lift and bigger tires would probably have me scraping on an empty tank. I have to see if I can adjust it to pull the door up another inch or 2.

i also need to clean the garage because this taco is way longer than my 4 runner.

had it setup where i could roll the bike infront of either car not being used.

i need a bigger garage or something now.

Holy crap! 25 5? Well see I got 09 model. I think the 08 model you have got better discounts right now. I'm a ford guy but I only went wit tacoma in the 1st place because the manufacturer offered free life maintenace because i complained about my bad experience at the 1st toyo dealer I've ever been to. So maybe in long run i got same deal?

nocars you've missed my point.........to the op, glad you got the truck you wanted and got a deal you feel you could live with, very excited for you and I couldn't bear to be critical in any way, cause you didn't post for help and criticism. Sorry for any negativity in a post that was meant to show off your awesome new ride.

Congrats on a truck that fits your 'application'. She'll do you proud!:D

thanks....im pretty thick skinned so it takes a bit to bother me. and anyone that buys a car just because they were offered free maintenance isnt going to rain on my parade ;) im glad i got the shorter one now. that extra foot would have made it a bitch parking a) in my garage b) current worksite garage c) parallel parking

good news is i let the air out of the tires and now have 10" of clearance!! that means i can atleast go with bigger tires and maybe a lift (have to get my cap first)
