What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Thats been replaced twice. Trucks got 195k on it now, top end rebuilt around 165k. I realized it still hadnt been cleaned since the headgasket job, coolant spray was everywhere. If I ever end up buying this off my dad I could see it becoming a huge money pit. JD Fabrication makes LT kits using T100 axles. And a 3.4L swap is super common and kits are made for it.

What didn't you like about the ko2? I might go to them but mostly to get back on a C load tire from these damn Es

 

Drove to Fresno today... Fresno is not that exciting, and neither is the drive.


But I found some cool lookin metal while I was down there

 

So pops just upgraded from bilstein 5100 3” leveling kit to fox 2.5 front & back , bought camburg UCAs , 4runner trails with new k02s up next , all spring in the rear

 

It's not that I didn't like them, love the tread design/pattern of the KO2. Agressive looking tire and so widely used. Perhaps that was it - see them everywhere.

Seeing so many positive reviews of the coops, had to give them a try.

Interested to see the difference between the two - noise, handling in wet weather, tread wear.

One thing though, they are also an E load range tire. At least the ones I ran were. Wasn't aware they had them in C.

 

Might have to change that signature... You're quickly running out of things to do to the taco... Conversion - DONE. Armor - DONE. Sliders - DONE.

I'm bumping up from 265/75R16 to 255/75R17 in order to go from Load range E to Load Range C. I'm sticking with the KO2 for now. If I regret it and get stuck in too much mud this spring/summer/fall on road trips, I may start considering a mud terrain tire.

 

Oh boy, now my Predator bumper will have company on the shelf in my garage!

 

Yeah there are a lot of options are 255/75r17 for c load. Few in 285/70 too.

Wish there was c load for 255/80..

 

So got the power steering rebuild kit on the way and noticed alot of slop in the rack and pinion is that also easily rebuild able or should I buy a new one.

 

That's a pain in the ass if the slop is actually in the rack, if it's in the tierods those are easy

 

I'm guessing it's the rack as I had time to lift it up again and I was moving the tires and it seemed like all the play way coming from the rack. The bushing was half way out (I dont know how long it was like that for) but I fixed it and it's still rocking. Plus one of the boots is covered in fluid and it's not from the pump leak. I'm wondering if this is what caused my pump to go. Shortly before all this I did donuts in 3rd gear once I installed the tundra rear end. I had to have a little fun.

 

Did the timing belt and associated parts today. Never knew when it was last done (if ever), and now I think I know. Probably the original at 196k. Pulled off the covers and found 14 teeth missing on the belt! Glad it's done.
