Ah thank you! I knew I had seen something while browsing through. I have the pop n lock kit not the one that actuator that comes with the full kit. I think I'll start with some rubber washers and maybe foam around the metal pieces that make contact to see what works while quieting the thud. I imagine since the tailgate basically a hollow shell the noise is amplified lol.

Sounds like a job for expanding foam insulation.

This looks really clean. Did you also use some type of spacer to lower the actuator to get the rod straight?

    Mike,

The rotating “spoke” in the eyelet makes spacers unnecessary. I did, however, use 1/4” closed cell foam above the actuator as a sound deadener.

Was very excited to get the kit! Haven’t read all950+ posts but aware of some of the hiccups and tips. Not sure I
If my bad luck or what but So far have broken a drill bit, wire cutters...and the actuator rod (when I was bending it) and (here’s the biggie) the eye of the piston (the little nub that the tip slides on to broke off). Any tips??? @KTJO 4x4 ?

Have had it installed about 5 days, love this mod, one of my favorites!

P.S. And had a bear behind me, locked my tailgate (boom) scared him off! multipurpose! might go back and install some thicker noise deadening later on. But really, doesn't sound that bad now, at least I know its locked.

I'm going to guess yours is on the way or might be there already. I just got mine today and I'm labelled as 'shipping label created' on the list post.

So stoked to install it this weekend! :bananadance: Thanks @KTJO 4x4 !

Yeah. Sorry guys. I haven’t been able to update the site in a few days. My goal is to try to get to it today. There has been shipments going out though and shipments being delivered in the meantime. I know there are another 10-15 going out today as well! I’ve been a little swamped over the weekend and all of this week with trying to get the Power Folding Mirrors Finally RELEASED!!!! I’m just knocking at the door with both of them and then they both are screaming out the door. The good thing is, with that mod, at least for the Tacos, you could technically use the PNP Harness for the LOCK and UNLOCK TAP with the special features that are offered with the Power Folding Mirrors so there’s a two for one right there and it saves you again from tapping factory wiring if you are considering ordering some mirrors from me in the near future ;). Which also leads me to possibly ordering another 300 PNP Harnesses if I could get another 300 orders to make it worth it.

Got it installed. Be patient when bending the rod. But it works great! Thank you @KTJO 4x4

I actually have a Pop n Lock, so I didn't need to mount my actuator. So this is the first time that I have actually looked at the "ring method" for attaching the actuator. Looks like a great idea.

The actuator I got with my kit was faulty and KTJO wanted me to send her the faulty actuator before she would ship me a new one for some reason. I wanted to finish the project so I ordered an actuator from Amazon and it worked. Turns out the actuator is only like $6. You can even get 2 for $8.

Of course you would ship yours back first. Did you ever by something and they sent you another one without returning the first one?

Yes, almost every internet return I make. Have you ever bought anything off the internet? Mostly I didn’t want to keep taking the cover off of my truck because the nuts that hold it on are plastic and the shipping both ways would be more expensive than the part.

That wasn’t really my point though and not a dig at all. Just letting the previous poster know they can get a new actuator in 1-2 days for very cheap.

First, I'm glad everything worked out! Second, I would like to make a small correction, I asked to be sent a copy of the tracking number prior to sending you a replacement in the mail :) However, you didn't really care to do that which was fine by me. You then asked if I could send you a link to where you could just purchase one and I provided you the link that you actually posted above  I'm assuming you have received it now and that everything is good to go now and this one is not faulty. Perfect. That is what I like to hear from my customers. Easy fix.

Here is an even better link if anyone else should need a replacement in the future. Buy yourself one and share with 3 other buddies and have it come out to only $3.40 a person ;)

    UPDATE:

The list has been updated as far as DELIVERED and IN TRANSIT. I will be printing more shipping labels tomorrow. I already have like 10-15 more kits to ship out. I just have to slap a label on the package and drop them off at the Post Office. I will get that done tomorrow and probably a little more. I will also plan on updating the list on new orders that have been placed as well tomorrow
